We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Galloway & Krissie Simek and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth & Krissie, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for your children?
We are in a business where love, creativity, passion and open communication are key pillars. Elements we focus on daily. We didn’t arrive here by accident- we are wedding planners and event designers because it is truly who we are. It is more than a career for us, it’s in our makeup. These components support who we are as individuals in our business yes, but truly in our lifestyle and have proven to be ways in which we raise our sweet and wonderful children. A household that nurtures the creative and silly side of our little girls, honors passion and encourages them to find their voice, focuses on love within our family and themselves and believes in open communication. This has laid the groundwork for us being authentic parents. Being authentic and true to ourselves allows us to be the best type of parents we can. We are different so each way we interpret these aspects within our family follows authenticity for our way of living, but coming back to who “WE” are as a family is truly priceless and the best gift we can give our children. There is so much influence everywhere you look (and we can’t pretend we don’t give in from time to time) but coming back to these pillar has been a gift to letting our children be who they are and develop and grow into exactly who they are meant to be! We can’t wait to see these little ladies change the world one day!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
White Lace Events & Design is a wedding planning and event design company based in San Diego. We truly LOVE what we do. We get to connect with clients and couples to celebrate their most meaningful celebrations, and for us, those moments are truly something special! One thing that makes us unique in our business is our approach to the planning. We co-own the business and as partners we have the opportunity to share more than one creative eye in the planning experience. Our goal is to bring out the signature style of each of our clients with intentional design creating a one-of-a-kind experience. Of course building a business doesn’t happen overnight and it takes time to cultivate brand recognition, but for us, taking the right time to build and launch was something we did with thoughtfulness. We were working in the wedding and event industry prior to opening our business and chose the right time for our company to launch. We believe building meaningful relationships with our clients and each vendor we work with is a top priority. When we started the business, it was (and still is) so important to us to partner with great vendors in our community to help bring these incredible events to life. We feel so fortunate to be in this industry, working with amazing innovative teams, wonderful clients, and each other! We get to showcase our organized side and feed our passionate creative souls.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
What a fun question! The visit would begin with a trip to Seaport Village into the Little Italy Farmers Market for sure! We both frequent the market and just love the fresh local produce, the vibe of Little Italy, the walk we get to enjoy with our family- everything about it! Being that we have kids many activities these days revolve around the awesome family friendly attractions San Diego has to offer, so we would put our family memberships to use at the Zoo, Seaworld, Legoland, the New Children’s Museum, Balboa Park- all the good stuff, and for sure relax at some of our local beaches. If you didn’t build a sandcastle your trip to San Diego isn’t complete! We are so fortunate to work in such an incredible industry with the most amazing hotels, resorts and spas so we can’t pick favorites, but we can say there would be some spa relaxations going on (we love a good spa!) and we can guarantee the hotel and resort accommodations would be top notch!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are a few shoutouts to give (how long is this article 😉) and the first in regard to how we parent would be our families, going back to how we were raised. We are fortunate that our individual families shared similar foundational elements that we are teaching our girls and encouraged our entrepreneurial creative spirits- which brought us together as business partners, and even more so allowed us to develop a friendship that is like a family bond. Also our awesome husbands! Can we really write anything about parenting and not mention these incredible men?! They are incredible partners, amazing dads (our girls light up when they walk in the room) and they are very supportive of our business goals. So a big shoutout goes to them! As for our story in business, it began at San Diego State University many years ago and we reconnected at L’Auberge Del Mar (It’s a fun story which we can share at a later time) but both locations developed our passion for weddings and events and linked us to each other and thus White Lace was in a sense “born” and we are now fortunate enough to teach at San Diego State University and plan beautiful weddings with our company at L’Auberge Del Mar so it feels very full circle for us and we are so grateful for the opportunities we have been given.
