Meet Edgar Carrillo | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Edgar Carrillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Edgar, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Ever since I was a little kid I have always been drawn into movies. The movie that made me want to persuade a creative career was back to the future. I found the story so creative and how it meant so much for so many people. ever since then a I knew I wanted to create some for of art that can have an affect on people.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My style photography goes by many names like moody / low light photography/ cinematic photography. My major in collage was filmmaking and decides to change it to photography. I saw I could create my own little niche of low light photography wear most photographers specialize in wedding and graduation photography. I decides I can use my background in film school to create cinematic shots mostly shooting at night time wear most photographers try to avoid. It was a struggle to go from creating shots wear the camera moves and actors are free to move around and bring their own poses. To having the camera be complete still and have a single image tell the whole story with no dialogue.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The most simple and best routine for a friend visiting for a weekend would be to take them out to the best pizza in san diego which is prince street pizza. Then it would be a follow up by a photo walk in Belmont park I believe that is one best places in San diego to meet interesting people and always have something unique to photograph. Then it would end with a visit to a movie theather

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The person I would like to give a shout out would be my college professor Alexis duran for supporting and giving me good movie recommendations.
