We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Danielle Daniel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Danielle, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
As a mental health therapist, I knew I wanted to offer a holistic approach for those seeking solutions for their emotional wellbeing. I was raised using nature for my health and when I came into my career I knew I wanted to share my passion for nature and emotional healing with the world. I loved essential oils and I saw their potency in research on how they interacted with the brain so I knew this could be a viable therapy tool for every clinic, hospital, therapist, treatment center and family out there seeking a holistic approach. The problem was, no one had ever combined mental health and aromatherapy before. So I took the research out there and my knowledge as a doctor of psychology of the neurobiology of various mental health symptoms and combined the two together creating a new modality called Psychoaromatherapy. This information is now revolutionizing the mental health field globally as it gives people understandable information and applicable content to integrate into their lives and practices. When I graduated from my doctorate, my dissertation focus was on mental health and aromatherapy and after my defense, everyone came up to me elated about my topic and introducing me to others saying “She has created a new field of study in psychology!”
What should our readers know about your business?
My unique background in mental health and training in aromatherapy have created a specific and unique niche to be able to help others manage emotional symptoms naturally. I’ll never forget what set me on the brave path of becoming an entrepreneur and leaving my employment… I had been treating a young teen for several months dealing with anxious emotions. She was struggling to want to be in school, grades were dropping and her mood was drastically declining. I introduced aromatherapy into our session one day and sent her home with a small amount to apply throughout the school week. She came back to therapy one week later and she was smiling! I thought for sure she got a boyfriend or something but when I asked how here week was, she responded “great!” So I asked what was different, thinking okay, what is his name? But she surprised me and said “that essential oil you gave me, it calmed me down all week and made it so I was okay to be in school and think more clear”. I was astounded at the change this little plant aroma had done after months of no change, in one week it facilitated my therapy in a more effective and efficient way and I KNEW I had to help others get these powerful solutions in their hands!
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I love San Diego, it is such an incredible city to explore. Some of my favorite things to do here are surfing and eating some real authentic tacos! I also love to take my friends to the USS Midway aircraft carrier museum to see this history of our military and all their sacrifices for our freedom in this country. Lastly I would top the evening off with a beautiful beach restaurant and walk on the pier.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people that have contributed to my career success. First of all my mother, whom from her trust and love of nature, taught me to seek solutions provided by mother nature herself. Next my studies and information would not be where it is if it weren’t for so many researchers before testing the effects of nature on emotions and laying the ground work for this content to be compiled the way I have done for the public to apply the aromatherapy. Lastly to all my customers who seek education, empowerment and solutions for their lives, their passion, enthusiasm and testimonials of the aromatherapy are what keep me going to provide this valuable mental health modality!
