We had the good fortune of connecting with Donald Mayo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Donald, why did you pursue a creative career?
When I was young 1 of my hobbies was drawing.. I would enter different drawing contest in elementary school and would win.. So once I was introduced to the f&b industry I admittedly grew a passion to learn more . From there I enrolled into college to further my studies in culinary arts
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well I started my career back in 2006 with culinary school… While working full time and now going to school full time a managed to stay afloat throughout my 2 years of college. I was highly determined and passionate about my new journey in life .. Once I was done with culinary school I picked up more work in place of the hours I was working for school.. Soon from there I continued to climb in ranks throughout the culinary industry working with nothing but the best ..
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Some of my favorite go to spots in LA right now would be as follows .. I’ll start the day with a quick bite to eat from Leo’s and Lily’s which is a cool spot I hangout at in Woodland Hills, from there I’ll run errands for the day .. and end up some where spontaneous for the rest of the evening
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yes I would love to give a shoutout to the following.. Chef Ryan @dodgers stadium.. he’s been a huge support within the LA community
