We had the good fortune of connecting with Dimple Ailsinghani and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dimple, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
“Everyone is given 24 hours in a day, and it’s up to you how you want to spend it.” For me, this always meant Balance. It’s an easy math to do but very difficult to follow through. Within the set time, 1/3 of it goes in chasing our dreams and the other 1/3 goes in the well-deserved rest your body needs. Of the rest 8 hours, it is important to prioritise what you want to do that makes you happy. Spending some time with my family and close friends is always on the top of my list. Next on my list is my Me-time, which I like to spend in learning a new skill like photo-editing or singing, meditating for some peace of mind or just unwinding while listening to some music while taking a long walk by the lake. And lastly, spending some quality time with my partner celebrating our tiny wins of the day, planning our next and catching up on some entertainment.
I have believed that success isn’t about how much money you earned but about how you balanced your success at work with celebrating it with your family and friends.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a Chartered Accountant by profession. I am also Travel Content Creator on Instagram.
Being a CA requires analytical skills and can get a bit monotonous. To get my creative side put to use, I started an Instagram page that resonates with what I love the most, Travel!
It’s been 3 long years of learning the photography and social media skills and trying new ideas. There were more times than one that I wanted to give up but it was my friends who kept pushing and re-enforcing that I could add value to people who love to travel but don’t know where to start.
It is yet a long way to go, yes, I’m aware, but the effort has started to bear fruit.
One of the main problems I faced was trying to juggle between my professional job and actually building a page. But I guess it’s all about balancing and asking for help. I asked around and some of my friends were ready to help with the page. Also keeping deadlines for yourself helps. Try to be the most productive at work so that you complete it without overtime. Keeping a time limit on social media apps also helped me. And finally knowing when I should stop working and start giving time to my family helped be maintain my balance.
I hope whoever reads this is inspired to start something of their own too, keep going at it and believing in themselves.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
