We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diana, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born in Virginia, but raised in San Diego since I was a baby. I was brought up in a very loving and caring family that helped everyone they came across. My background and upbringing was impacted by watching my parents and grandmother helping animals and people throughout my life. Seeing my grandma travel on the bus to downtown alone to feed the homeless impacted my desire to help other people. My parents took in stray animals and helped out many people in our community/neighborhood, I carried this with me my whole life. I continued to help any and everyone who came into my life and plan to continue doing so.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In my professional day job, I work with children in a program designed to support and bring light to a different way of learning and exploring new opportunities through various museums in Balboa park. I think what sets me apart from others may be my dedication and nurturing way to not only humans but animals as well. It was not easy to get to this point in my life, there have been many challenges, heartbreak, and tears, but it has been worth it. I have overcome many challenges by finding my self confidence and passion for doing what I love most, which is helping out. I have learned to love yourself first and foremost and what you think about yourself matters and to not be afraid to go after what you love or believe in no matter how small or big that dream may be. I want the world to know more about what I do and why I do it, to gain more supporters that share the same goals and compassion for helping. I want the world to learn that you don’t need anyone’s permission or approval to do what you want.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my best friend to all of my colonies that I care for throughout the city as well as Mission bay, little italy, coronado, and Imperial Beach where I grew up. We would have coffee at the Cat Cafe, food at Filippis, and finish it off with some great dessert from Churro Addicts. I would say the best part about living in San Diego is the endless views of the sunset along the ocean. We have it all here the beach, the snow and the desert. In my opinion, there is not one single place that I would recommend because you have to experience it all.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shoutout my family, friends, and colleagues for their continuous support throughout this journey. I also have to thank my trap squad for always having my back and helping me when I ask no matter what it is. I would like to shoutout the organization East County Animal Rescue, who taught me a lot and I still learn from to this day. This organization has helped me discover my passion and drive and shaped me into the dedicated, loyal, kitten, cat, and Trap Neuter Release advocate and ally that I am today.
