We had the good fortune of connecting with Desiree Lawn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Desiree, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to create a business that focuses in a positive way on what people with autoimmune or mystery illness want…which is to be free of autoimmune and mystery symptoms, and to be able to do the things they love again.

People just want to feel better, and get their lives back. They want to be in control of their health, and explore root causes so I created Autoimmune Health Freedom.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I help stressed, health-conscious professionals with autoimmune conditions and mystery illness explore root causes by giving them access to the right functional lab tests and resources, including the NES Health Bioenergetic WellNES System (BWS), so they could feel better and enjoy life to the fullest.

What sets me apart is that I know what it’s like to walk in my clients shoes. I suffered for too many years with autoimmune conditions like eczema as a child, my hair falling out in my 20s, recurring sinus infections that were treated by antibiotics and unexplained health issues like food sensitivities and digestive upset that eventually led to a healing crisis when my tooth cracked, and my immune system was so stressed it severely overreacted with Hashimotos, vitiligo, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and waking up at 3 am tired and wired and no one had answers for what behind my symptoms. I was offered sleeping pills or suggested that I may just have anxiety. I knew I had to find a better way, and take responsibility for my own health. I recovered my health, and left my stressful commercial real estate career, and became a certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition(R) Practitioner (FDN-P), to give my clients access to the right functional lab tests and resources that I couldn’t get anyone to run.

I was very sensitive to food and supplements and wanted to heal as quickly as possible to be there for my young kids. I became open minded to things that I would have considered “woo woo” in the past and found NES Health BioEnergetiX System (BWS) that is based on Chinese Medicine principals that clients easily do from home, which is now even more cutting edge and easier to do with a new voice scanning option. I love that I could support my client’s physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health while they were staying safe at home.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to take people to my favorite restaurants with gluten free options, and it’s so great that there are many to choose from in the San Diego area. My top 5 are:

1. Haggo’s Organic, Leucadia: fresh local fish tacos or bowl with organic rice and red beans, mango salsa is so good. Mexican Chicken Rice Lime soup (add avocado) is the best.
2.Ki’s Restaurant, Cardifff: gluten free menu has lots of great options
3.Ranch 45, Solana Beach – build your own plate with grass fed meat, salmon, veggies and wild rice options are so good
4.Parakeet Cafe’ (Multiple Locations) – gluten-free, vegan banana muffins are a treat
5.Madison on Park, San Diego, be sure to try the gluten-free, vegan raviolis

I enjoy taking friends to to de-stress and get exercise by spending time in nature at San Diego area beaches like La Jolla Shores, Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, or Coronado, or hiking at Annie’s Canyon in Solana Beach or discovering the hidden labyrinth at Calavera Lake in Carlsbad.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to Shoutout to Shanda Sumpter of Heartcore Leadership and Michael Strasner for giving me the experience of growing into my leadership, and showing me what’s possible when living in my vision for my business, my family and my clients so I could share my passion with my clients and evoke their vision for their best health and life, too, and create transformation in the world.
