Meet Deijah Smith | Actress | Model | Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Deijah Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Deijah, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My entire being is made up of creative and free flowing energy, so taking the creative career path only makes sense for me. It is extremely hard for me to clock in and clock out to work a normal job because I’m always looking for freedom and to be my own person. I get bored seeing the same four walls and the same people on a daily basis. Some people thrive in that environment and find security in routine but for me I feel suffocated. I was truly born for the artistic lane.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I believe my refusal to be boxed in is what sets me apart. I give myself the permission to let my creativity flow through many different channels. I may have a time period where I’m focused on modeling and loving every second of it but a week later, I may be braiding hair, acting and or vlogging. I’ve invested the time and energy to make sure I am well rounded and able to give attention to all of my passions and talents, I don’t limit myself. Following your dreams is never easy but knowing my God given purpose allows me to overcome the challenges that come my way because I know it’s just preparation for the end goal. I ultimately want to inspire people that anything is possible, if you have a dream follow it. It’s okay to not always know what you’re doing but put yourself out there anyway and the answers will be given to you as you walk by faith.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I haven’t lived in LA very long so I’m still finding all the cool hidden gems but whenever friends and family visit, I always take them to Santa Monica pier. It’s such a cute place to walk around, play games and grab a funnel cake. But the majority of the trip will consist of trying new restaurants… I love a good rooftop restaurant for a weekend brunch or an evening dinner. My personal favorites are perch LA and Spire 73. I then allow them to pick the places they want to visit but I always end the trip with a luxury shopping day on Rodeo Drive.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I would like to thank God for keeping me throughout this journey because it is not easy. There is too many people to name individually and I don’t want to leave anyone out, so I would like to shoutout every creative I have met along the way. All of the actors, models, hair stylists, makeup artists, musicians, photographers, class instructors and crew members deserve this shout out! You all are AMAZING and all of you matter, this industry would be nothing without each and every one of you!
