We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Mendicelli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I’ve always been pretty cautious. In the past I associated risk with danger or loss. Once I started to work on myself, I became more conscientious of my inner voice. Inevitably, my perception of risk shifted from danger to possibility. I absolutely have personal doubts as I have two children relying on me financially and emotionally. Taking that first leap was an ode to myself in a sense and it helped me approach the next risks with confidence. The moment I made the decision to bet on my dreams, I took the greatest risk of my life. I put everything on the line and I have a great respect for each one of you who’s belief outweighs fear.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Like most small business owners, I am a creative. My love for sharing music has expanded into a brand/business and the doors continue to open. I had a corporate job for many years which taught me how to live the American dream. After that chapter ended, I realized that dream wasn’t for me. I shifted my focus onto what drives me which is connection through music. I’ve worked tirelessly on projects, collaborations and events which promote this vision of connection. This has not been easy. I traded a fixed income and set hours for an on-call 24/7 work schedule. Yet I wouldn’t change this for anything because this work actually counts toward my end-goal. The greatest lesson I’ve learned through this process is to trust my intuition. When you are personally connected to a brand, you must ensure that every move you make aligns with your integrity and vision. My mission is to unite the community through vinyl and connection. Music does not discriminate and I feel closer to my community now than I ever have. I want to create an environment where everyone feels welcome to vibe and enjoy music freely.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I could sit here forever and chat with you about my inspirations. But one person will always stand out above the rest in my mind and heart. My Grandfather. He is the single most influential guide I’ve had throughout my life and I’m where I am today because of his teachings. I’ve been largely influenced by his knowledge of music and business. His principles taught me how to conduct business authentically and with heart. My Grandmother was his support and our rock. It’s only right to highlight them both for creating a foundation and a safe space for me to evolve.
