We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Kloberdanz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?

It took me six years to get my book, Inner Compass Mom, to publication. At first, I was not thinking about starting my own company. I simply wanted to share what I had learned through a spiritual awakening that profoundly changed my outlook on life and my perspective on motherhood. By connecting with other moms, I knew that many were also struggling with mom-guilt, with feelings of overwhelm and of not feeling good enough, just like I had. And so, after lots of encouragement from others, I decided to follow through and publish this book. It wasn’t until I was looking for a good name for my website that I had the idea to start my own company.

For a long time the title of my book was Inner Compass (which later turned into Inner Compass Mom), so I played off those words and came up with Inner Compass Living. I loved the sound of it and felt that it truly reflected on how I live my life: through using my inner compass, my intuition. I was amazed that the domain was still available. As soon as I bought the domain, I realized how much bigger I could make my efforts to help other moms, beyond just promoting my book. That moment inspired me to create a platform where other moms could find support and inspiration. I now offer one-on-one coaching through my website and am excited to host small workshops this year to help moms get in touch with their own inner compass and renew their sense of inspiration and inner peace.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

After many years of being a stay-at-home mother of four, I was exhausted and yearned for more fulfillment in my life. My journey to more fulfillment led me to an unexpected awakening, allowing me to see life and motherhood through a healing lens. Ultimately, this resulted in the publishing of my book Inner Compass Mom and starting my company Inner Compass Living.

Now, I teach other moms how to use the mindset and spiritual tools that have helped me personally on my own path of awakening. What is most exciting about working with my clients is the moment they start waking up to their false or limiting beliefs that have been holding them back from pursuing a more fulfilling life. Their aha moments, their moments of clarity, are when I light up as well. That’s when I know I love what I do. Those moments make all the struggles and obstacles that I have faced along the way worthwhile.

Inner Compass Coaching is a unique approach to help my clients get greater clarity and understanding of their next steps in their lives towards greater inspiration, fulfillment and inner peace. Besides truly hearing my clients and connecting with them, I might use various tools, such as spiritual guidance cards, dream analysis, vision boards, mindfulness techniques etc., depending on the person’s interest and their comfort level.

I’m thrilled to be working on a few big projects this year. I’m creating an audio version of my book Inner Compass Mom, so that busy moms can listen to it while multitasking. The audio book should be available late February or early March. I’m also compiling a workbook, or guide, which accompanies my book, Inner Compass Mom. Besides that, I’m publishing an inspiring journal later this year to help support moms even more on their journey. Another exciting thing for this year is hosting a few workshops. The best way to stay in the loop for these are by signing up for my newsletters through the link on my website www.innercompassliving.com

Being a mom in today’s world is not easy. But, the more we allow ourselves to be vulnerable and share our struggles, the more we’ll realize that we are not alone in this and that connecting with others can be tremendously helpful. I’m passionate about supporting other moms, whether it’s through one-on-one coaching, hosting workshops or through social media, moms need support, now more than ever.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

When it comes to going out to dinner, I love Poseidon or Pacifica in Del Mar. At Poseidon you are right on the beach and at Pacifica you have sweeping ocean views. La Jolla is great as well with George’s and Eddie V‘s. An after dinner drink is highly recommended at Hotel Valencia right on Prospect in La Jolla. Downtown San Diego is a fantastic place for a night on the town as well. Our favorites are Café Sevilla with amazing tapas in the Gaslamp district. Little Italy is fun to visit as well.

Other entertainment of course is the famous San Diego Zoo and then there’s SeaWorld. If you like the beach there are plenty of choices to visit a different one each day. Balboa Park cannot be missed of course with its museums and beautiful architecture.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout would have to go to my friend Laura Haver, author and coach. She started a local author mom group that meets over Zoom or for coffee regularly. For about a year now, I’ve been enjoying the support from other local author moms. We share our own experiences and exchange ideas and tips to help each other along, whether it’s to do with marketing, writer’s block, editing tools, or how to manage being a mom while also being in business, we share it all!
