We had the good fortune of connecting with Daniel Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniel, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
My father always told me to follow the flow. Life is about opportunities so if you stay ready you don’t have to get ready.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Salon Chair Guys sell service and repair salon and barber equipment. It’s a niche business that sprung up from my fathers desire to recycle and repair Salon Furniture after his retirement from doing hair. There are only a few un in the country and even though it’s honestly not that lucrative of a business its an honest living you can feel great about. A few years ago we decided to launch a line of Salon Furniture Cleaner Products. None of us had experience in selling products but we decided to give it a try. Surprisingly our cleaners have become a very good seller and are currently for sale on Amazon and by several salon furniture companies including Belvedere Maletti, BuyRite Beauty, and Minerva Beauty. As far as challenges, doing something new and untried is always a challenge. Our advice would be to never tell yourself no, let someone else, and make them have to repeat it. Always keep trying because persistence wins. We would like the world to know we are real people, with a small dream, and we care. And Black Lives Matter.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my friends to each of the beaches in San Diego starting south at IB and ending in Oceanside. Each beach community has their own unique culture and its fun to visit them all.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would like to shoutout the salons and barbershops of San Diego. Their support of our business has allowed us to grow and explore new opportunities. Specifically, Richard Josephs Salon, Indigo Salon, Cultivate Salon, Mr. Browns Barbershop, and K-Cutz Barbershop.
