We had the good fortune of connecting with Dalton Santos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dalton, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work life can be pretty difficult at times when I’m trying to make it as an actor. Most of the auditions are in the day time and if I do land roles most of them are shot during the day and sometimes going into the night. I decided to get a graveyard job so that way I’m able to pay my bills and support myself while also taking the time to submit auditions very single day during the day.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
For me as an Actor it took a while for me to get out of my comfort zone. I am a very shy person at first. I kept saying ever since I was a kid that I wanted to be an actor and I would tell everybody around me that I was going to be one but I felt like they didn’t believe me because I wasn’t doing anything about it. Little does my family know that Ive been acting since I was very young but I did it when no one was around. I would practice in front of the mirror and make funny faces. I would watch movies and kind of imitate how the actors said their lines and I will also say the lines my own way. Now that I’m older I feel like that has payed off because I’ve been able to land lead roles in short films and land a couple pilot shows and commercials. I know as long as I keep doing this everyday, I will be able to become a successful actor.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to all the beaches here in San Diego, restaurants, amusement parks etc.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My agent Camie Carpenter. She’s with Hollywood Talent Associates and she’s been a tremendous help with the start of my acting career. She’s helped me put together my acting resume, acting reel and pretty soon looking for representation up in LA. She always gives me shoutouts on her instagram page and I’m very grateful for that. I recommend anyone in the San Diego area who are interested in acting to meet with her.
