Meet Craig Sewing | CEO and Creator of American Dream TV

We had the good fortune of connecting with Craig Sewing and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Craig, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Personally, I believe in zen, but “balance” is bullshit. Love life, and give ALL the important things 100% of your effort. There isn’t a balancing act.
If you ride a bike, you balance by KEEP PEDALING.
I am firm believer you don’t have to take from one bucket to fill the other, or to “balance” so to speak.
Specifically, my love for my family does not take away from my career…It enhances it.
My love for my career doesn’t take away from my family…It enhances it.
My love to travel doesn’t balance me out….Working hard empowers the opportunity.
Rather then “balance,” build your family, career, and life in a way that you can give all of them your love and 100% effort.
They should all work synergistically.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
American Dream TV is an entrepreneriual journey. One where there was no manuel written for it.
We took no investor capitol and built our show and business one dollar at a time.
Also, one failure at a time. The reason we’ve made it this far, is to learn from each of those failures, and get better.
We’ve relied on hard work, integrity, and relationships to be our core ingredients.
As a result, we’ve built something that has no competitors, often just imitators. At this point, its hard to take them seriously, because we know how hard we’ve worked to get here, and that’s the thing that causes most businesses to fail along the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Its called America’s Finest City for a reason…
Between the weather and attractions, its almost impossible to go wrong. But you know what, I’ve been blessed to visit every major city in this country, and many of the micro markets. ALL of them have a great story, and reason people live there.
We live in the greatest country on the planet. While its great in San Diego, this country is meant to be explored.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is that old expression, “Alone you will go fast, together you will go far”
The American Dream TV is an entrpreneurial model, where so many others fingerprints are on this story.
We have a national network of entrepreneurs involved, production teams, cast, staff, and a whole lot more.
As the leader of the American Dream TV, I’ve never used the word “employees” rather teammates. |
Without them, there is no story to be shared. If anything, I work for them, not the other way around.
If I could identify anyone who has had the most profound impact on me chasing my dreams…
It would be my parents.
There is not a penny I earn, that makes me happier then making my parents proud.
They paved the way, by showing me love, and giving me a chance to chase a dream.
And finally, despite the politically arguments we see…
One thing we should agree on, we live in the greatest country on the planet. Hence why millions want into the country, not out of it. The freedom to chase a dream is real to us, and not neccessarily the rest of the world. Our country should do a much better job of appreciating this, and spreading positivity.
