We had the good fortune of connecting with Chloe Lind and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chloe, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk-taking and discomfort are crucial.

The most important risk in my life has been my emergency road-trip to Los Angeles forced by my mother.

Freshly out of high-school, my father had passed away and I coped by disassociating through the most unhealthy ways, which slowly drained my passion for clothing, fashion and innovation. The risk weighed more heavily on my mother, who decided to quit her job on short notice, pack up all of our belongings and with maybe $800 total, move me 3,000 miles across the country so I could be closer to my sister, the sun, and restore any creative passion left within me!

Years later, I found myself working at a retail store for six years, moving up in management but never feeling fulfilled. I enjoyed the paychecks and the perks of being around amazing clothing all of the time, but I found myself losing any desire or energy to work on my own projects and business. I did not have any savings, back-up, or other income. My heart knew the risk of leaving the stability within that job, would only benefit me in my own business and journey despite the advice around me. A week later, I mustered up the courage to put in my month’s notice and Chloe Lind Customs begun, and has only grown!

When your heart and soul knows what’s right for you, take that risk!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I find fashion the most interesting when it’s crafted from unconventional fabrics. Through my sewing and design journey pants in fun prints with odd textures or designs have been my forte. Currently, I am having the most fun with creating blanket attire! I essentially reworked vintage, customized or chosen woven tapestry blankets into clothing items! The items thus far have ranged from accessories to clothing and I am always open to customs and new ideas!

There definitely have been challenges to overcome. The main lesson I have consistently learned through and through is to maintain your purpose. If you feel genuinely good doing something, stick to it. There will be endless times that you want to give up and it will not make sense, so do not!

My brand and designs exist to allow my customers to expand their creativity and feel the most like themselves they can! Fashion has in a way, been a forever support system to me and I want to share that with as many people as possible!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite part about Los Angeles is all of the access to beautiful trails along high mountains. The San Fernando Valley has really special views and great places for bird watching!

Pool is always a go-to and House of Billiards is a great bar for that! It’s right next to multiple bars and restaurants. Shopping and thrifting is right along this strip too and features many second-hand tiers!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is dedicated to my mother, Patricia Jane Ambrisco-Lind and father, Richard Norman Lind. Both passed, yet still prominently in my every-day life. Thank you for exposing me to all things artistic, especially clothing, thrifting and music. You taught me to stay true to myself and because of that, I always aim to make you proud.
