We had the good fortune of connecting with Chase Wilsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chase, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think too often people put themselves first, but I believe always putting the client in a position of priority has produced great results for our team and our business. Taking the time to get to know the person in front of us, and creating a genuine relationship where we can grow together, has been the focus of our firm. Wilsey Asset Management is a Registered Investment Advisory firm and we are a fiduciary firm which means we always put our clients best interest ahead of our own. We establish our relationships through both investment and financial planning services. On the investment front we work hard to provide a transparent, no nonsense approach to building fundamentally strong investment portfolio’s for our clients. Rather than charging high commissions to sell products, we charge a management fee so that we can grow with our client as our relationship with our clients progress. One thing that makes us different is our own money is managed right alongside all of our clients, keeping them at the forefront.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
While working in the finance world has provided so many great experiences, I view starting the Fighter’s Fight Foundation as one of my greatest. After my Aunt Kristi passed away from breast cancer early this year, I wanted to honor her memory and continue her story by giving back to other women fighting the same fight she did. This has all been made possible by the tremendous support of my family and some close friends that have decided to get involved as well. The Fighter’s Fight Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit that provides memorable experiences to the many impacted families standing toe-to-toe with this difficult disease. We look forward to continuing this amazing journey.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a little bit of a homebody, and while I enjoy all of the beautiful scenery in San Diego, most the time you can find me relaxing with my friends and family at home. I currently live in Carmel Valley, but am lucky enough to have my dad in Poway and my mom in Escondido where I also venture for barbecues and family gatherings. With all of them is definitely my favorite place to be!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My dad, Brent Wilsey, founded Wilsey Asset Management over 20 years ago and has been in the finance world for over 40 years. While his financial knowledge is one of the many reasons he is successful today, it is also the reason I have been able to learn how to stand beside him and provide the financial help we do. His drive and his resilience to overcome life’s challenges has provided me with a role model that has taught me so much. He has never made excuses and always finds a way to solve a problem. Though the challenges he has experienced have been vast, having lost his mother when he was a child and his father when he was a young adult, and then in serving our country by entering the Army at just 17, I am still continually amazed and inspired by his grit. He deserves all the recognition he can get.
