We had the good fortune of connecting with Charnette Batey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charnette, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
It is so important to keep choosing my peace. I have to make the decision to prioritize my emotional well being everyday. Deciding that how I felt was more important than any one else’s opinion was challenging. But this choice has helped me step into self acceptance, self discipline and self love. By choosing my wellbeing over anything else, I feel confident in making decisions in and out of my business. When you prioritize your peace and make the state of feeling good the goal, you attract from a higher vibration. I see that things always work out for me when I am making space for my well being and my peace. Last month when I made the decision stay in alignment with inner being and say no to a production, There was temptation go back in comparison trap or imposter syndrome or seeking external validation. These common distractions when having an online business can be overwhelming. How can you feel successful when you’re focused outside of yourself? So I set the intention and practice of putting my emotional well self first. It wasn’t always the easy choice, but its the most important choice. and It’s worth it. Accepting that nothing meant for me will or can pass me by allows me to feel and know what some call “success”.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My story is one one of radical self love. I want people to know that I had to work hard for this energy. To walk in my power and self love I had to overcome false narratives of unworthiness. I am no stranger to the stage. I love perform and be on stage, yet for so long I felt unseen like wasn’t enough. I was injured on tour and started practicing yoga where I discovered a source of peace and healing love from within. I leaned into it, I was crazing this sensation. So I decided lean in more, become a certified teacher and in this process began the journey to heal my ancestral traumas. Charnette b Yoga came to be when I stopped hiding and started deciding to accept myself, love myself. sharing my practice and teaching others changed this narrative of feeling unseen and undervalued. Now I guide people inward to come to know who they truly are. to embrace and know the powerful source of love within. I did this by exploring and playing, but facing truths and accepting myself. I also expressed myself as much as I could. on sand off stage. as a yoga instructor I still celebrate that I am allowed to feel all the feelings and also trust that I am worthy and divine.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love to people watch. I love a 75 degree day, sunny some clouds, on the beach with snacks and some music. meditating, people watching and laughing. A FULL BEACH Day is my dream. I love to be near the water. I love to snack. I love to observe. I have great jokes.. it would be a blast

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother, my yoga teachers and “The power of Now” by Ekhart Tolle and teachings of Abraham Hicks. For such a long time I feared rejection, I had low self-esteem and doubted my worth. But my mom always reminded me that I was enough and that I was worthy. My yoga practice helped me confirm what she knew was true all along: That I was made of love and born worthy of my dreams. My Yoga teachers and mentors and self practice helped me to step into trusting that. I am now rooted in that truth of my worthiness of love, bliss and joy. I don’t fear as much and have learned to tune myself in to the present moment with the books by Ekhart Tolle. The Power of Now changed my life. I believe and celebrate the Laws of the universe. I see magic in everything, thankful for the Abraham hicks teachings that reminded me of my power to shift my perspective and hold myself in the place of feeling good. My power is in my vibration and I CAN control that.
