We had the good fortune of connecting with Charlie Seith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charlie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
For a large portion of my life, especially when I was younger, I ran away from risk. I was terrified to be uncomfortable. However, I think a turning point for me was when I decided to move to San Diego, during a pandemic, after my sophomore year of college. I finally began to understand that in order to grow, you have to take a risk. You got to jump, knowing that you might fall in the process. So, when it comes to what role has taken risks played in my life/career, well it changed it for the better. I can argue that taking risks changed my life. Most importantly, after you do something that you thought you couldn’t, it gives you more confidence to go and do it again.

What should our readers know about your business?
Kolorhouse is a brand aimed to cultivate creativity through clothing, community, and conversation. I think what sets us apart from others is our mission to bring creativity out in others, considering this is something our society looks to take away from us. What I am most proud of or excited about is the community we have built, especially around the San Diego area. I have had people tell me that the Kolorhouse has actually become a home for people to express themselves, which is all I ever wanted.

How I got here was not easy at all. We still have a long way to go too. However, I was able to overcome most of our challenges so far was building a team full of those who believe in the vision of the brand. Over the course of this last year, I finally realized that if I want to build something special, I need to surround it with special people. I am happy to know that most of the challenges we have overcome are all due to my persistence to always find a solution with incredible people around me.

I think the biggest lesson I have learned along the way is to enjoy the journey. A lot about life and business especially is looking to the future to where you want to be. However, once we get there, we realized it was nothing but a goal we wanted to accomplish. Most of the time we wish we want to be back at that place when we wanted to be somewhere else. So for me, it is all about learning to enjoy this moment right now, knowing that I will never have it back. Especially knowing that I will wish one day to have this moment back.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For me, it is all about the people you surround yourself with. Therefore, I think this city has some of the most unique and creative minds I have ever encountered. I would urge them to get coffee at some of the best cafes or grab a drink at one of the nicest bars with those that make the experience even better. To me, I think being around creatives always gives me the best experience. Things like being a part of a photo shoot or being inside of a studio are where you share a creative experience with others. That is how Kolorhouse ties into everything. I have always craved those creative experiences because it allows me to meet beautiful people at the deepest level.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Man, so many people have helped me get to where I am today. I think one specific person I want to dedicate my shoutout would be one of the first people who believed in my vision when I came out to California, which would be Chris Finn. Chris is an incredible photographer and was the first to trust in my direction when it came to the message of our clothing and our brand. Not only does he do fantastic work, but he opened up many doors for me and showed me that many things were possible. This is truly just the beginning for himself and I, as a group and individually.
