Meet Cassie Cole-Goforth

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassie Cole-Goforth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cassie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Ramona Radio started as an accidental business — a passion project that quickly grew into something much bigger. What began as a simple idea to support local businesses became a fully operational, 24/7 streaming radio station serving the heart of Ramona. We never set out to create a company. Eric’s original goal was to build a platform where small businesses in Ramona could have a voice — a way to speak directly to their neighbors, customers, and the broader community.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Eric’s professional journey has taken him from behind a computer screen to the cockpit of a jet — and now, to the heart of southern California’s airwaves.
He started his career in information technology, developing a strong background in systems and technical problem-solving. But a passion for aviation led him to make a bold career change. After earning his pilot certifications, Eric went on to found the Ramona Flight Training Center, where he helped aspiring pilots take to the skies and brought aviation education to the local community.
From there, his career continued to climb — literally — as he transitioned into flying corporate jets professionally. While his day job has him traveling across the country and beyond, Eric’s commitment to Ramona has remained constant.
We never planned to start a radio station but we saw an opportunity to bring people together — to give local businesses a voice and to celebrate the music, stories, and identity of our town.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d start at Smoking Cannon Brewery, our go-to spot for unique beers. It’s the only brewery in Ramona & the spot where you can catch local acoustic sets or energetic open mic nights on the weekends. From there, we’d explore Ramona’s thriving wine scene, stopping at standout spots like Ramona Ranch Winery, Pamo Valley Winery, and Chuparosa. Each offers its own unique charm — from rustic elegance to relaxing patio vibes — with stunning views and wines that reflect the character of the region. In between tastings, we’d grab a wholesome bite at Ramona Family Naturals, a local favorite for organic eats and small-town hospitality.
Beyond the great bites and sips, we’d take in Ramona’s natural beauty with a hike up Mt. Woodson or a scenic cruise through Highland Valley & the numerous wineries or even up to Julian for the famous apple pie. If they’re feeling adventurous, I’d arrange a flight through Ramona Flight Training Center — there’s nothing like seeing the valley from the sky. We’d browse local shops and wind down with live music (every night of the week!) at local venues — many of the same artists you’ll hear on Ramona Radio. Ramona isn’t just a destination; it’s a community built on creativity, connection, and a whole lot of heart.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We’d like to dedicate this shoutout to the small business owners of Ramona — the hardworking people who show up every day, build community, and keep our town vibrant. They’re the reason Ramona Radio exists in the first place.
A special thanks also goes to the local musicians who trusted us with their sound, and to the listeners who tuned in before we even had everything figured out. Your support means the world.
