We had the good fortune of connecting with Carolyn Phung and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carolyn, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
I believe Road to Reiki’s success attributed to staying humbled and being my most authentic self. In contrary we hear often in the world “sell your brand”, but what we are really selling is a piece of our heart and soul. Our brand is a glimpse of who we are and sometimes a direct reflection. Everything that is created from the Road to Reiki line is handmade. So much good energy and thought goes into each piece. When someone picks up one of my creations, I want them to know the intention behind it was purely love and to help them with their own spiritual journey.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started Road to Reiki with the intention to elevate clients own spiritual path. I am Reiki Master Teacher who provides energy healing and Angelic guidance. To further support clients, I also created Reiki infused products such as jewelry, smudge sprays, spiritual sea soaks, and candles. Soon after I started to attract local businesses and started to sell my products across San Diego.

Starting a business was a scary adventure because it is diving headfirst to the unknown. Of course, I thought will I succeed? But also, I was heart led. Meaning I made the decision to do so with my heart, having the intention to help others and along the way heal and learn myself! Once I was able to understand my mission, everything soon after fell in place.

What started off with providing Reiki energy healing to clients led to designing and developing products to compliment my client’s spiritual practice. The products continue to evolve, which in a healing practice translates to growth. There is always room for continued spiritual growth and creating new fun and exciting products. A candle for example is not just a candle that is poured into a container; there is an art in the making of each individual candle. The heart and soul of these creations is to heal and bring joy to the beholder.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spot would have to be anywhere we can hike/walk and see the beautiful outdoors! Here are a few that I enjoy:

Mount Woodson aka Potato Chip Mountain
Mount Woodson
Torrey Pines State Reserves

I love being able to connect with nature and having that quiet time to reflect and ground.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is always an army of supporters behind success. My husband, two young sons and sister for encouraging me to go out of my comfort zone, being at every pop-up event and being my own personal cheer leaders! My dear friends (A &S) for encouraging me to share my products across San Diego and being that source of positive energy and creativity. My soul sister Melanie Esperon for being an amazing spiritual teacher, mentor and friend. I am truly blessed with an amazing team of supporters. Last but not least, I have to give thanks to my ancestors, spirit guides, and angels that continue to guide and watch over me!
