We had the good fortune of connecting with Carly Beardshear and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carly, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe that taking risks is extremely important in being an entrepreneur. I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today if I didn’t take the initial risk of quitting my job and pursuing my dream of becoming a chef. That was probably the biggest risk I’ve taken but there are smaller risks that I’ve taken that have contributed to the success of my business. I think the scariest part of taking risks is the impact it may have on my financial situation. But, when I’m evaluating a risk, I think of it as a new opportunity for my business and the positive financial impact it could have rather than the negative. Positive thinking and believing the decisions I make will benefit me and my business has truly fueled its success. Taking risks is an integral part of entrepreneurship because unless you’re comfortable with where your business currently stands, you’ll never see growth or development.
What should our readers know about your business?
Unlike most catering companies, Daily Chew Catering provides our clients with the ability to customize a menu with their favorite dishes so they aren’t limited. This sets us apart because we can make you anything you desire whether it is on or off our menu. When you’re paying someone for food for an event you’re planning, we believe that the client should have the freedom to choose what they are being served. Most catering companies only offer a preset menu with very few options so this business model allows our clients to get creative when it comes to the menu they’re crafting for their event.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When friends come to visit I always take them to some of my favorite spots. My go-to places for great views and fun places to hang out are Sunset Cliffs, Cabrillo National Monument, and the dog beach in Ocean Beach. My favorite spots to get a bite to eat are Oscars Taco Shop, OB Noodle House, Rocky’s Crown Pub, PB Fish Shop, Board and Brew, and Buona Forchetta. I also just discovered the New Orleans style restaurant, Louisiana Purchase which will definitely be added to that list. Another one of my favorite things to do with people who are visiting is to take them on the ferry to Cornado at sunset to get beautiful views of the city at night.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to my Mom, Dad, and Sister. They’ve supported me from day 1 and are constantly encouraging me along the way to growing my business.
