We had the good fortune of connecting with Camille Cruz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Camille, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was a criminal defense attorney, when I found out I was pregnant. Halfway through my pregnancy I discovered I was going to have a child with severe disabilities. I knew he would need several therapies per week and I wanted to facilitate everything he needed. I chose to do something that allowed me the freedom and flexibility to be there for him and still have a creative outlet for myself on weekends!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Switching from such an opposite career was not natural or easy. However, it was fun. My purpose was to be there for my son throughout the week and this job allowed me to do exactly that.

Something that sets my brand apart is my specialization in textured and curly hair. As someone who has long curly hair, I truly enjoy playing with a variety of hair textures.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d eat brunch at Morning Glory in Little Italy, then go walk at the Del we’d shop at UTC then get dinner at Queenstown.

We’d hike Torrey pines, go to the movies, go paint pottery at liberty station.

We’d go to Disneyland for the day and eat all the treats and rides.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Thank you to my sweet baby Ezra, if not for you- I would never have started this fun venture of mine.
