We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittney Osborne and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittney, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Growing up, my parents always gave me free rein to be a creative thinker. I was never pressured to be someone I wasn’t, and I think I found a lot of freedom in being able to explore my passions. At a young age, my sisters and I would set up lemonade stands, sell snow cones & go door to door slinging homemade cookies. I attribute half of our success to self-motivated grit and the other half to nice neighbors, ha-ha. Needless to say, I was born with an entrepreneurial spirit. Fast forward years later and BOOM sparked B’CAUSE! The “B” in B’CAUSE stands for the 4 strong women in my family (Brenda, Bridgette, Brooklyn & myself, Brittney) and the “CAUSE” is my heart’s intent to create one of a kind pieces that armor our customers in confidence and love.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
B’CAUSE is a modern American brand. Carefully sourced from luxe materials, each collection is limited edition and produced in small runs. Very excited to share that over the last couple of months, I dreamt up our February drop. Like many of us, I’ve been feeling sad for the world and wanted to spread a little light, so for our February drop I came up with “Love Language” our vintage wash pullover. L O V E — the universal language. Written in 5 languages that tie back to my heritage (Swedish, English, Spanish, German, & French). It is the fullness of love that I felt when I found God, married my husband, had my first born, shared meaningful conversations with loved ones and enjoyed long coffee dates with friends. It is L O V E that intertwines us, refines us and carries us to better days. Insert “Love Language” — vintage wash, oversized fit, avail in rose + dove. Not just a piece of loungewear, but a reminder that L O V E, does.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
OOOH, this is right up my alley! I am a total foodie so my ideal SD adventure would essentially be a food tour of my favorite spots sprinkled in with bike rides along PCH. I mean, we’ve got to work for our meals, right?! Here is a rundown. I’ve narrowed it down to a day in North San Diego! Brunch at The Goods Doughnuts. They make the freshest doughnuts with incredibly unique flavors. Take a peek through their crystal-clear window & you’ll see each step of the doughnut making process take place. That’s going to be a yes for me! Next, bike rental is a MUST! Being able to ride down PCH and take in the gorgeous SD view is absolutely breathtaking. Quick pit stop at Campfire Restaurant for a yummy appetizer and one of their signature cocktails! Such a cozy ambiance and fun, unique recipes. End the night at Jeune et Jolie – the most adorable French restaurant with a beautiful feminine mystique. The food is beyond fabulous and presentation is next level! Truly takes you to a different place and time. Lastly, dessert. This is a no brainer – I’d end the night at Handel’s Ice Cream with my favorite flavor Graham Central Station!!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Matthew Osborne and son, Noah Osborne have played a huge role in the trajectory of B’CAUSE. My husband, also an entrepreneur started his business Pathway Group, a recruiting and staffing firm for manufacturers in 2012; while we are in completely different industries, there is a deep level of understanding, mutual respect and empathy that is developed by building a startup. We have celebrated wins, losses, and new beginnings and I’m forever grateful we get to experience this together, as best friends and husband and wife. In the same breath, we welcomed our first-born baby, a living, breathing angel of light – Noah Matthew. When God blessed us with the gift of Noah, my heart shifted. My purpose was redefined. Noah gave me a sense of fulfillment that success could never bring. Motherhood has brought a new intentionality to my work – there is less stress for perfection, approval, success and more focus on the love of creating attached to purpose.
