Meet Britt Midgette | Music Channel / Singer / Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Britt Midgette and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Britt, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
In today’s music industry, standing out has become harder than ever. With digital production tools now in the hands of anyone with a laptop, millions of songs are released every day—flooding the space and making it nearly impossible to break through the noise. It’s always been tough to “make it,” but making money in music? That’s a whole different beast. Artists often create from a place of love and innocence, pouring their soul into the work—only to be met with industry offers that are more like cleverly disguised loans than true partnerships. Labels promise exposure but rarely profit, and most deals benefit the business, not the creator. It’s a racket—a beautiful, brutal, and often heartbreaking game that demands clarity, grit, and business sense to survive.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is deeply personal. Music has always been an extension of my heart—an emotional language that flows through me more naturally than anything else. Over the years, I’ve written, performed, and tracked hundreds of songs. In the beginning, like many artists, I dreamed of fame. But as time went on, my relationship with music evolved. I realized music wasn’t about being seen—it was about being connected. It’s my direct line to the universe, a way I tune in, process, and express love, pain, longing, and joy.
At my core, I’m a singer. That’s where my power lives. It took time—and many internal battles—to fully embrace that. Singing is the way I enter flow state, where the noise in my head fades and I get to just be. It hasn’t been easy. The biggest challenge hasn’t been external—it’s been quieting the inner critic and releasing the pressure to “make it.” Learning that music is where I feel most alive, without attaching it to money, fame, or validation, was a huge shift for me.
What sets me apart is that I create from a place of pure love. My goal now is simple: use music to spread love. The world may stay divided, but through my songs, I can offer a vision of unity, connection, and peace. That’s the heartbeat of my story—and my brand. I want people to feel something when they hear my voice, to remember that we’re not so far apart after all. That’s the gift I’ve been given, and that’s what I’m here to share.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When friends visit me in San Diego, it’s an easy vibe. We’ll usually start by chilling at one of my go-to coffee spots—Good Omen or Hawthorn Coffee. Hawthorn has this drink called the Iced Yerba Fizz—trust me, it’s unreal. From there, it’s all about tacos, beach walks, and soaking up the sun. If we’re up for an adventure, we might head out to the desert. There’s this special spot called Blair Valley—we like to call it Little Magic Valley. Honestly, I’d leave the itinerary open and go with whatever they’re feeling, but at the core, it’s all about good food, good company, and that laid-back San Diego sun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to everyone who’s been part of my music journey—it’s been a wild, beautiful ride. Big love to my mom, Judy, the original hippy, who handed me her ‘60s guitar and told me to give it a try. To Joe Hunt, thanks for that very first guitar lesson—it lit the spark. Huge gratitude to my youth pastor, Rory McIlvain, who invited 14-year-old me to lead music and unknowingly set me on this path of performance and musicianship. To the churches I grew up in—thank you for leaving instruments lying around for a curious kid to explore. To the countless musicians I’ve had the joy of jamming, gigging, and growing with—what a gift. Shoutout to my bands: Well Within, The Major Minus, and Silk Panther—it’s been an honor to make noise with you. And most of all, to my wife Cecilia—thank you for always having my back and giving me the freedom to be out at all hours at random clubs chasing the performance high.
