We had the good fortune of connecting with Blanca Chivichon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Blanca, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Yes, there’s one mantra I have followed throughout my upbringing, and to this day, it still deeply inspires me. The quote says “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” by Confucius. When I first heard of this saying, I was so moved by its simplicity and truth. I have always been passionately creative and artistic through the years, and when the time came to choose a career path and go to college, I knew I couldn’t give up on myself and my goals of creating art. There was a lot of pressure to choose a traditional career and follow a straightforward path. It took a leap of faith to follow my heart and make a career for myself by forging a new path that suits my passion. I love this quote because it gave me the reassurance I needed to pursue what I love to do as a career. It’s true when you follow your heart and truly enjoy what you do for a living, it doesn’t feel like work, but an expression of who you are.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from other artists, is my adaptability and versatility. My passion for the arts is ever-growing and I don’t limit myself to one facet of art. I immerse myself in various forms, including photography, poetry, acting, playing music, and directing. This multidimensional approach allows me to bring a unique perspective and creativity to everything I do. It allows me to view my art from many lenses and each art form I practice, enriches the others. For instance, being a photographer sharpens my visual storytelling skills, which in turn enhances my abilities in acting and directing. This interconnectedness ensures that skills honed in one area bolster my creativity and insight in another, creating a synergistic effect that elevates my overall artistic expression. This form of limitless creativity excites me as I keep learning and growing as an artist. My professional journey to where I am today has been fueled by my persistence and my passion for what I do. Like any journey, the road hasn’t been a smooth and easy path to success. The challenges along the way have been disguised opportunities for my growth and have pushed me further into learning how to adapt. The biggest lessons they have taught me are the importance of resilience and continuous self-improvement. These lessons continue to shape my professional and personal journey. Through my photography brand, B. Chivi Photo, I’ve been fortunate to embark on incredible opportunities that have infused my life with profound purpose. Each click of the camera lens has not only captured moments but also opened doors to new experiences, connections, and avenues for creative expression. My journey with B. Chivi Photo has reinforced my belief that art has the power to enrich lives, create meaning, share stories, and evoke emotions beyond words. What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I live for art. It’s not just a passion; it’s my purpose. I cannot envision myself pursuing anything else but dedicating my life to creating art in all its forms. Whether through photography, poetry, acting, or music, art is the essence of my existence.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the SoCal area, I’d definitely take them to Paradise Cove Beach in Malibu, where we can enjoy the waves of the beach and do a photoshoot for ourselves. We would go have brunch at Lady Bird Cafe, and then go thrift shopping on Sunset Blvd. Then, we would stop by the Academy Museum and LACMA to admire and be inspired by other artists. To end the trip, we would hang out in Little Tokyo to eat some ramen and sing karaoke together.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be who I am today if it wasn’t for the mentorship and guidance from my older brother, Erick. As we grew older together, I watched my brother become an entrepreneur and build a successful business in marketing and managing. He taught me the importance of hustling and elevating our family’s quality of life. In my eyes, he is the perfect example of taking a leap of faith and believing in yourself to make greatness happen. He has always been so supportive of me and my own creative artistic career. I’m so thankful for his support in growing my photography business, and I absolutely love collaborating with him and his clients on big projects. Some of my favorite events I have worked on with him include a Hollywood red carpet premiere for the Netflix documentary, “Romeo is Bleeding”, which was executively produced by Russel Simmons. Another special event was when we worked on a Bay Area band, Sentimiento y Manana’s album release party. He has granted me the privilege of being his company Chivi Digital’s in-house photographer and top choice for brands he works with. His leadership has been pivotal to my artistic career and photography business, B. Chivi Photo. For any brands, businesses, artists, and individuals who are seeking marketing, consulting, and enrichment, I would highly recommend checking out chividigital.com.

As a creative artist, photography is only one aspect of my multi-faceted career. In addition to my photography business, I am also an actor and poet. In my writing journey, there has been a special person who has assisted me in my poetry revisions, as I prepare to publish my first poetry book. I’d like to thank Carolina Cha, my longtime friend who is not only a teacher but also a singer, artist, and, like me, a versatile multi-disciplinary artist. There’s no one else I would trust with revising my writing before it is shared with the world. I’m forever thankful for her friendship, love, support, and time she has dedicated to me as a growing artist.

Last but not least, I’m deeply thankful for my parents, my family, and all the special people in my life who have been my devoted support system through all the years. I would not be who I am and where I am if it wasn’t for them. My heart is full and overflowing with love for each and every one of them.
