We had the good fortune of connecting with Ben Cole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ben, how does your business help the community or world?
The Theatre School @ North Coast Rep offers students of different backgrounds a safe environment to come together, learn and accept their differences, and collaborate in expressing themselves artistically and theatrically. This allows them to develop a deeper appreciation of their own abilities and how they may connect with others throughout their lives. Now with online theatre classes and student productions, we have had students not only in San Diego, but also in different states and even Canada!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our artform is unique in that it is collaborative and live. With the global pandemic this has forced theaters across the world to either shut down or explore new frontiers for a venue of theatrical expression. Now, after 7 months of finding new solutions to technical glitches and internet lag, we are proud to embrace that “All the world’s a stage!”, and we can overcome all obstacles if we work together. What matters most is that we continue to find new means to connect and express ourselves creatively.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Theatre School @ North Coast Rep is located in the cozy shopping center of Lomas Santa Fe Plaza in Solana Beach. It’s just a 5 minute hop from Fletcher’s Cove Beach Park where there are gorgeous sunsets and fun little arts district near the Belly Up Tavern with several small shops and restaurants including the Hide Away Cafe.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
While our students progress is our primary focus, none of the work we do with them would be possible without the support of their families encouragement at home. To all the proud Theatre School moms and dads out there, we are so thankful for the love and strength you share in empowering your kids to grow their creative skills with us.
