Meet Anthony Gose | Portrait Artist & CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Gose and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anthony, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My decision to start my own photography business was rooted in a combination of passion and opportunity. From a young age, I’ve always had a deep love for photography, seeing it not just as a hobby, but as a powerful means of storytelling and expression. As I honed my skills and gained experience, I realized that photography wasn’t just something I enjoyed; it was something I wanted to build a career around.
The idea of starting my own business came when I recognized the potential to turn my passion into a sustainable livelihood. I saw a gap in the market for a photography service that focused on capturing those small, candid moments that are impossible to artificially recreate. Additionally, I wanted to offer a personalized experience for clients, focusing on building genuine connections and delivering unique, high-quality images.
There was, of course, the challenge of venturing into entrepreneurship. It required a shift in mindset from being solely a photographer to also being a business owner. I spent time researching the market, understanding the needs of potential clients, and developing a business plan that aligned with my vision.
Ultimately, starting my own business was about turning my passion into a profession, providing a service that goes beyond just taking pictures. It’s about creating meaningful connections through visual storytelling and delivering an experience that clients will cherish. Every step of this journey has been a learning experience, and I’m excited to continue growing and evolving as both a photographer and an entrepreneur.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Embarking on the journey of starting my own photography business was a thrilling yet daunting endeavor. The initial challenge lay in navigating the intricate balance between the desire to start my own business, and the demanding nature of being a full-time student. From crafting a business plan to investing in high-quality equipment, each decision felt like a step into uncharted territory. The inevitable hurdles, be it marketing in a saturated industry or mastering the art of client management, tested my resolve. Yet, with each obstacle, I discovered a resilience I never knew I possessed. Securing my first clients was a triumph that echoed with validation—a testament to the countless hours spent refining my craft and building an online presence. Networking, often an intimidating prospect, unfolded as a gateway to valuable partnerships and collaborations. Today, as I reflect on the evolution of my business, I am proud not only of the stunning images captured but also of the community that has risen and that I’m honored to be apart of. The journey, with its challenges and triumphs, has become a cherished chapter of personal and professional growth, leaving me with a deep sense of fulfillment and a boundless enthusiasm for the road ahead.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first stop would be to grab a delicious meal, with my first choice being California Pizza Kitchen or Santa Barbara Chicken Ranch. Then, we would cruise either Downtown Ventura or State Street, and spend the day enjoying the atmosphere. We would also have to stop by the beach, relax in the sun, or spend time in the water if the waves are good. To wrap up the night, we would get some comfort food, and find a nice spot in the mountains to watch a beautiful sunset.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In the echoes of the development of my love for photography, my grandfather stands as the silent architect of inspiration. A maestro behind the lens, my grandfather infused the very air with a contagious enthusiasm for capturing moments that transcend time. From his first moment of meeting me, my grandfather never let a single moment escape from his lens. With every click, my grandfather wove tales of family, joy, and the beauty found in the simplicity of life. His patient teachings transcended the technicalities, revealing that photography was more than just a skill; it was a dance with the soul of the world. Today, as I’ve begun to frame my own moments, I carry not just a camera but a legacy—a visual hymn sung by the man who sparked not only a love for photography but a lifelong appreciation for the art of seeing. The lens may capture images, but it was the grandfather who captured hearts and kindled a flame that continues to illuminate the path of my creative journey. I love you Papa Ed.
