We had the good fortune of connecting with Anne Menik and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anne, what role has risk played in your life or career?
In my early 20’s I dreamed of getting married and having a family by 25 yrs.old. My life didn’t turn out exactly as I planned. I became very ill at the age of 26 while I was undergoing fertility treatment. A simple outpatient surgery resulted in numerous life threatening surgeries and hospitalizations. The risk after several unsuccessful years with Allopathic Medicine, I fired all my doctors and refused to take anymore medication due to feeling dysfunctional and worst with the side effects. I chose to try Alternative and Holistic Medicine and it saved my life. With Becoming Vegan, Yoga, Acupuncture, Energy Healing, Meditation and Qi-Gong, the mind body connection allowed me to heal emotionally and physically. Eventually, I chose to serve others and became a Holistic Health Practitioner in return for those who helped me through healing journey. In the last 20 years, I have worked with thousands of people to achieve optimal health in mind, body, spirit.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Women’s Wellness Expert in Digestion, Hormones and Breathing. My background is in Hatha Yoga. Yoga for Gofers, Hormone Balance. Fertility Therapy, Relaxation Therapy, Essential Oil Specialist and a Functional Breathing Specialist. I have 27 years experience as a patient hospitalized with 8 life threatening surgeries. Multiple symptoms, depression, PTSD, Anxiety and Suicidal thoughts. I decided, “I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.” I made a conscious chose to take over power of my health, do my research, take risks with my health and try Alternative and Holistic medicine which was unheard of in 1994. I learned: 1. Take control of my health. Be my own Wellness Advocate. 2.. Get Educated on my health problems 3. Try natural therapies that have been in existence over 5000 yrs. 4. Listen to my intuition 5. Don’t take things personally 6. Own my voice and share my story with Others. . 7. Serve others and give back 8. Do not judge someone’s health based on the outside. 9. Ask your Dr.s many questions and get answers. 10. Create your Wellness Team.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I surround myself with beautiful, loving, Goddess, Soul Sisters! I would fly to Bali with my Soul Sisters and sleep outdoors. We would visit a Spiritual Retreat, eat healthy local foods, practice yoga, meditation and dance, dance fluidly and graceful. Wild, free and embrace life. Each day, on our trip we would explore the beach, the culture, learn about the people and meet more amazing Soul Sisters. It would be a week of relaxing, restoring, balance, fun and laughter, loving life with each breath. I grew up on an island, I am most free when I am near the ocean.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I must acknowledge first and foremost my Faith in God, Universe and Spirit for giving me strength, courage, and belief in myself that I AM worthy to live. Next is my loving family who were with me from the day I became ill. My very first book on my healing journey was “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise L. Hay. Her books and Affirmations have changed my mindset and how I live my life to this day. She was one of my idols. I was honored to have my story in her book, Modern Day Miracles. Last but certainly not least my daughter and my Love, Richard. The 2 people that love me unconditionally and whom I love and respect for supporting who I authentically am!
