Meet Angela Carroll | Family Childcare Owner/ Center Director of Early Head Start Center/ Early Childhood Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Carroll and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was to provide my family with financial stability and we wanted to leave a Legacy behind for our children and our grandchildren that would continue on way after we are gone. This is very important to us!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We started our family childcare business originally back in 2002 when my oldest son was born and I decided I wanted to stay home with him until he was school age. I already had been a preschool teacher for several years so I knew I could help other children while staying at home and running a home family business. When I first got this vision from God fear tried to step in and distract me but God told me I had to step out on faith and low and behold I faxed my job my two weeks’ notice and literally five minutes later I got a phone call and I had my 1st childcare kid. It was scary but we had to trust God. Our business was very successful and I ran it for about five years. Then I decided I wanted to go back into the work force and I started back teaching for Head Start program. I advanced from being a Teacher to an Assistant Center Director to a Center Director of a wonderful brand new, beautiful Toddler program with 64 toddlers and families ages 18-36 months. At the same time My husband and I prayed and talked about reopening our business and training my daughter to help us as this was truly going to be a family business and a legacy that we wanted to leave for our children to continue when my husband and I are long gone. My husband and I decided our Family Childcare would be called, “Carrolls Learning Angels “as our last name would lead the Legacy and Empire we desire to build. So, we are All working together to provide a Safe, Loving, Healthy, Family oriented Environment with a motto that says, “We Strive towards Excellence in Everything we do”. We are very excited to see our Family Business, Carrolls Learning Angels be very Successful once again. By no means has this process been easy but we kept being persistent and stepping out on faith mixed with sacrifice and hard work so that we can be successful. We are a Family Childcare that’s accepts children up to 12 years old. We specialize in providing a Safe, loving, learning environment for children. We use Creative Curriculum and The California Foundations and Frameworks and encourage a play-based material because children learn through play. We also take the whole child approach where we truly care about the Whole family because if we can help the family then we know we are helping the child/ children. We also take pride in helping the children grow and reach their next milestones no matter what they are by using different modalities to teach with because not all children learn the same and we want to meet them where they are and lead them to the next level of success.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Day 1: Sea World. and We would go eat at The Fish Market overlooking the water by Seaport Village. Day 2: San Diego Zoo and we would eat at restaurants at the zoo Day 3: USS Midway aircraft carrier museum and eat at Tom Ham’s Lighthouse on the water. Day 4: Beach Day and BBQ at the beach Day 5: Belmont Park Roller-coaster and cook a home cooked meal

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give Glory to God for believing in me and for equipping me with the skills I needed to be a successful educator. Without his mercy and his grace I would not be able to be a wife of 25 years, mother of 8, Na-Na (grandma) of 4, small business owner, a Center Director of a Wonderful Early Head Start Center of 64 wonderful families of children 18-36 months, and a Supervisor of 20 Staff. I also want to give a Shout Out to my wonderful Husband and my 8 children that support me in All my wild endeavors and believing in me . I also want to give a Shout Out to my friend Ileane Caldwell for always pushing me to go after my dreams and believing in me as well, and always reminding me about the Calling God has on my life. I also want to give a shout out To All Kids Academy for pushing me towards greatness. This company is where I received most of my training and gained most of my experience mixed with the plan that God had on my life.
