Meet Rave Reid | Breathwork Guide & Self Love Mentor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rave Reid and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rave, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Last year I attended my first breathwork class and it absolutely changed my life. What vividly came through for me in that first session was that I needed to share this with others ASAP- that sharing breathwork was my calling. I began practicing my own breathwork consistently and it healed and open my heart from past pains and traumas. I struggled with anxiety in the past and was amazed at how quickly doing an active breath could turn down my “monkey mind”; giving rise to fresh insights, breakthroughs, and personal transformation. Amazed by this personal shift, and feeling a sense of gratitude for my own personal healing, I knew that I was being guided to study breathwork and signed up for a certification program. I’m committed to guiding others to open their hearts and self-heal with the power of their breath. We live in a world that has created normalcy around numbing our bodies and closing our hearts. We also live in a world where it hasn’t been encouraged nor educated for us to get mental or emotional health support from mentors or non-medication alternatives. My commitment is to create experiences and programs that slow you down enough to feel into your heart and body. It’s challenging to make transformative shifts without a mentor. I believe having support from someone who gets it would make all the difference. This is the legacy I’m committed to – helping humans heal and open their hearts through breathwork ceremonies, group programs, mentorships, and courses.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
No one ever told me I could learn to love myself through Breathwork, but I did. Of all relationships, the ones we have with ourselves are the most important. I want the world to come back to prioritizing themselves, loving themselves, and opening their hearts. Breathwork connected me to the truth that I was lovable just as I was. It made me realize that nothing about me needed to change in order for me to love myself. It helped me get out of my head so I could access feeling into my body and open heart. It starts with us as an individual to do the inner-work. When you fall in love with yourself, you’ll naturally spread that love out into the world, improving the quality of your life and all of humanity. I see a revolution where every human can lead, love, and dance with an open heart. Where each of us choose to stay open, rather than closed. You in responsibility for your self-love. Me in responsibility for my self-love. This is the legacy that we’re creating together – spreading massive love into the world.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite town in San Diego is Ocean Beach – quirky, laid-back, yet charming town. I would suggest to start with an ocean walk and beach day at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park. Then to hit up the Wednesday Ocean Beach farmers market and sushi dinner at The Joint. Ending their night by seeing sunset and join the dance party at the drum circle (in front of OB Surf Lodge). For another day I would suggest to get icecream at Stella Jean’s Ice Cream in University Heights and then take it to the Japanese Garden at Balboa Park for a lovely stroll.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I attribute my inner-work/self love/transformational shift to 2 major supports:
#1. Investing & receiving high-level mentorship from someone who embodied something I hadn’t yet. I feel so much love to my many mentors I’ve worked with these past few years. I wouldn’t have been able to get to where I am this quickly without them!
#2. Surrounding myself with other humans doing the inner-work and who are on a similar upward trajectory with me. Shout out to my best girlfriends! I also attribute this to committing my time to group programs and actually initiating conversations and hang-outs with the humans inside of them.
