Meet Andrew Shoemaker | Photographer/Gallery Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Shoemaker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
What was your thought process behind starting your own business?

Well first we had to find the right space for an art gallery and it all just kind of happened very fast. We had a bit of remodeling to do and luckily I had a contractor friend who was eager to help out. After a few weeks we were ready to open and I brought 20+ years in gallery experience with my business partner and gallery director so I felt confident that we would succeed.

Why did you pursue an artistic or creative career?

For me, photographing nature is what I love so as they say, “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life”. Being able to do what you love and enjoy for a living is truly a blessing and to be able to travel and see places the ordinary person might not see is really special.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Andrew Shoemaker and I’m a fine art photographer and art gallery owner based in Maui, Hawaii. I first got started just documenting outdoor adventures and then was inspired by the grand landscapes I was seeing. Hawaii absolutely blew my mind and I’ve been out here coming up on 10 years photographing the beauty of these islands.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d just like to thank my family and friends for all of the love and support throughout the years! It’s very hard to name just a single or even a few people as SO many have been part of the journey.
