Meet Andrew Arrabito: Creator, hunter, blade smith and war fighter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Arrabito and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrew, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe there are multiple factors that all come together culminating for having the best or making the best etc. One of the biggest factors is the fact that I am an end user of knives. From growing up in the woods with older brothers using knives daily. To helping my dad cook. To skinning animals and using hatchets to make kindly and cut wood. Then after this my entire adult life in the Navy SEAL teams, using knives tactfully. Well I know what works, I know the size of a blade and the thickness and type of steel that will work the best for that job. Also being huge into cooking and having close chef friends and driven that side of the business. Definitely being an end user in all these aspects has given me the best knowledge to make purpose driven tools. I believe also with people having different walks in life but using this type of tool in so many aspects of life being able to customize their tools and tailor them for their mission is ideal.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe that it one can’t be tied down to only a couple descriptions or labels, especially when there is a creative side and also business side. Initially before I started the business I spent years and years unknowingly developing and gaining the knowledge I would need to succeed if I ended up choosing this path. My entire life was using these tools, living an outdoors type life. Going to war for over 10 years. the experience and knowledge gained was turned around and used for a purpose that has grown into notably a business that provides jobs and a living for many. But also a metal healthy place for myself and veterans. It has made it possible to give back to so may great charities and foundations. Raise funds for and work with so many that help others. I was forced to learn about and understand business by doing what I enjoyed and also what I knew very well. This calling sometimes daunting and intimidating is also good for me. There is such thing as good stress. Stress that comes from life challenges. Learning how to adapt and also problem solve without giving up and losing your mind. Life will forever bring challenges and disappointments. It is how you tackled these and overcome them that teach you about yourself and how you will overcome the next waves that come.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have some great favorite places here in San Diego. I would actually from getting up in the morning head out and take a hike or go for a run and make sure I felt good about the day. I love entertaining and cooking/grilling so one I would have prepped a bunch of food to grill and smoke all day. then have tons of friends over. I smoke whole pigs, alligators and everything in between. I also very much like Born and Raised little Italy as a go to spot. Also during the summer hit the beach and if time permitted get out and spend a few day tuna fishing. I honestly think if time permitted the top two choices would be fishing or cooking at home.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give credit where it is due. The brothers I spent my time in the SEAL Teams with and my best Friends and team I have now that I spend my work life with and also home life.
