We had the good fortune of connecting with Andre Boyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andre, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
From a young age, I always wanted to work in entertainment, specifically acting… I didn’t know it would be a journey and or have so many obstacles that are out of your control. But the dream of working with the greats like Dicaprio in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Costner in The Bodygaurd and Denzel Washington in The Hurricane made me want to dive right in and go on an adventure. I always had a huge imagination growing up. I would play out imaginary circumstances in my head where I was the hero of it all and some mission always needed to be completed. I didn’t know where these little plays of make believe would take me, but I did know I wanted to do it in Hollywood. So I got the chance to start acting as a teenager in San Diego, where I got a small role on Veronica Mars. After that…I’d say I was hooked. My dreams started to come true.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m very proud that I have been able to work as much as I have pre and post pandemic. I don’t take that for granted one bit. A few projects I’m excited about was guest starring on The Rookie and Animal Kingdom, plus going back to San Diego and shooting a brand deal for Avocado Oil Spray.

Some of the lessons I’ve learned is to keep your circle small. Not everyone is good for you. You don’t need to be liked by everyone. It’s okay to have more than one dream.

I want people to know that being a creative in the kitchen and creating on camera kind of come hand in hand. I’m always thinking of new food ideas and how to execute it just as hard as I am thinking about my next project and character I am going to play.
I always thought of myself as just as actor, but being knowledgable in the culinary arts opened up doors that I never would had imagined. It brought a whole new audience to me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wow – if my best friend Shane came up today to Los Angeles…. We’d definitely hit up this restaurant Verse. It’s an old recording studio and it’s Peruvian/Japanese, Chef Oscar does it right, and plus you never know who is going to be there to perform.

For breakfast/brunch we’d go to Larchmont Village to eat at Vernetti. It reminds me of Italy and the smoked salmon and French Toast is to die for.

Since we both come from San Diego, we’d get the best street tacos, Angels Tijauna Tacos off Vineland…straight fire.

I have a huge background in mixology as well, the margaritas at Madre in Mar Vista are fire, they have so many Mezcal options plus my favorite Clase Azul Reposado.

Besides food, there are so many cool spots to just sit back and relax and enjoy the view. The most recent rooftop I’ve been to is at the Proper Hotel

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my partner (Suze), my acting coach (Phil), my team, and God. Without any of them, I would not be where I am. They have seen me at my darkest times, where I wanted to give up. But they’ve opened too many doors and gave me so much love and sacrificed their time so I didn’t quit, so I didn’t miss an audition and have made me a better human. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
