We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ana, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When it comes to risk taking I usually doubt and question my self where? or when? or how to start? I start thinking of what to eliminate in order to be a step ahead to make my dream into reality. It all has to start somewhere within your self. I was feeling helpless for not being able to provide enough for my family I knew I wanted something better for us. I was ready for the challenges and acknowledging that slow growth was going to be part of the process. Ive gone through so many emotions pushing my self after every bump on the road but at the end of the day I ask my self, if my family and I didn’t go thru this risk together would we be here where I am now?

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art form is beauty. I want to enhance more your natural beauty, whether its with lash extensions, lash lifts, or brow lamination. A little bit of everything for someone who may like to be bold or simply natural. I think what sets me apart from others is my set up from my small studio that I have to the quality products I use. In the different services I provide I have my own style as an example my eyelash fans, they are unique to every clients needs or request. I feel so accomplished when my client tells me they love my work because it makes them feel beautiful, comparing it to when they go to big chain salons they end up feeling rushed with the work that was done.

It was not easy to get where I am. Like I’ve mentioned before I quit my 9-5 job and starting this career-business with zero clients and zero knowledge. It was a rough start but I definitely worked really hard day and night, at times sleepless nights. It was also harder because I didn’t have any one to guide me or tell me what I needed to do better. I was my own critique. What helped me improved was that I was always trying to learn and be up to date with the latest things.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was coming to town to visit I would start off the Water front park. I personally love to enjoy some sun near the bay. It feels really amazing there because you feel the breeze and you could set up with your blanket under a tree. After that I would walk across the street and walk around the pier. If it was lunch time I would take her to Miguel’s Cocina. Its a Cali-Inspired Mexican Food restaurant. Ive been there a couple times and I love to be seated next to the water. I would recommend ordering there ceviche or some flautas de carnitas and to drink I would order some cocktail a long with some tequila shots. The atmosphere there is super fun!. If you love some reggeaton or Spanish music you’ll love it there.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would defenitly give a shout out to my husband, Pablo for giving me the extra strength to push me do what I truly have passion for. If it wasn’t for him working hard for us, I wouldn’t t of risked quitting my 9 to 5 job which was a big set back financially. If it wasn’t for that decision, I wouldn’t be where I am. We both decided to make the decision so I could focus on beauty school while I stayed home with our two kids during Covid. He definetly helped me focus on school, trainings and work on my passion at the same time.

Another shout out I would like to recognize is my esthetician friends and my close girl friends! they were my always my first go to whenever I needed advice and when it came to me practicing what I’ve mastered now.
