We had the good fortune of connecting with Amelia Jaquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amelia, how do you think about risk?
I’m definitely a risk taker. I once read that it’s better to do something, even if it’s not perfect, than to not do it at all. That idea has stuck with me, and I’ve lived by it since I started my business. If you could have seen my setups when I first began, they weren’t perfect—but now, three years later, everything looks as polished as what you’d find on Pinterest. It’s a testament to the fact that I didn’t wait for perfection. I learned and improved along the way, and that has played a huge role in both my personal and business growth.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business, PinkFest Co., started as a creative venture to bring people together and make their events unforgettable. We offer a range of services, from bounce houses and soft play to beautiful décor and themed setups. What sets us apart is our dedication to quality, creativity, and customer experience. We were one of the first to offer all-in-one packages in the San Diego market, which clients love because it takes away the struggle of communicating with multiple vendors, making the process much easier.

None of this would be possible without my amazing team, especially my husband, who is my rock. He handles most of the heavy lifting and logistics while I focus on marketing and client relationships. The journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. I started with just a few items and, over time, worked tirelessly to build my inventory and refine my services. The first years were full of learning experiences—there were challenges with logistics, pricing, and even self-doubt. But I truly believe in the power of risk-taking and doing things even if they aren’t perfect. I learned to grow with each setback, making adjustments along the way. I’m most proud of how far we’ve come.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, hard work, and resilience. But equally important is having a strong support system, learning from mistakes, and embracing growth. I’m deeply committed to providing an easy and joyful customer journey, and that’s something we take very seriously here at PinkFest.

What I want the world to know about PinkFest Co. is that we are a team of passionate creators who truly care about every event we touch. Our clients trust us to bring their dreams to life, and we never take that for granted. Behind every setup is a lot of heart and dedication, and we are here to make every celebration special.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting San Diego for a week, we’d start with breakfast at The Cottage La Jolla, then walk around La Jolla Cove to check out the sea lions. After that, we’d grab lunch at Liberty Public Market, then head to Cabrillo National Monument for some amazing views. I’d definitely take them to Coronado too, since it’s super kid- and pet-friendly—my baby loves it there! I love the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park too, both are great spots for me as a mom. For a chill day, we’d explore Balboa Park and then grab drinks at Raised by Wolves in the Gaslamp. We’d also have to check out Old Town for some good Mexican food at Cafe Coyote. One day we’d hit up North Park for craft beer and good vibes, then end the week with dinner at Cucina Urbana. There’s so much to love in San Diego—it’s the perfect mix of chill and fun, no matter what kind of day you’re in the mood for!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my dad, who is also an entrepreneur. From a young age, I’ve admired his work ethic, his commitment to honest work, and his belief in the importance of always learning. As I continue to navigate the entrepreneurial world, I find myself admiring him even more, especially as I understand more about what it truly takes to succeed. His guidance and example have been instrumental in shaping who I am today.
