Meet Amanda Landers | Owner of Print Shop and Business Center

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Landers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda and Shawna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My business partner, Shawna and I found each other in some of the toughest times of each others lives. We were going through separate personal problems, i became homeless, covid happened and lost my job all this while she was going through a rough divorce. We met through a friend and became great friends. We lost it all.

As times got worse and Covid went from a 2 week lockdown to a 2 year lockdown my partner and I started a side business (He has always been an entrepreneur and has the ability to start something out of nothing. So he showed us the way into our side business and we just clicked!

We said “You know what! We can’t ever let any job decide our future or depend on a job” so we started brain storming how to or what type of business would best fit us but also made us happy and excited! So that’s when we said “BUSINESS CENTER” I love doing all the excel and business work for my husbands business and creating and designing, Shawna is great at administration and communications, we than decided that this was what we wanted to do! lol

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets Mr. Nomads apart from others is that we are a family owned and operated business with a very strong expertise in a variety of areas. We are very eager to help people reach their goals as we have. How did we get to where we are today business-wise? Hard work and dedication. It definitely was not easy. Hours upon hours of brainstorming, planning out our business model and of course having ideas that didn’t work over and over again until hitting a gold mine and sticking with it.
Number one lesson we would want to share with others is that even when you feel like quitting and it feels that it would be so much easier if you did, KEEP GOING !!!! The mornings that we really didn’t even want to face going to our business or dealing with our hardships, we pushed ourselves even harder to go to show up and give it our ALL !!!! and that is why we are where we are today. And just a little side note even though we have made it through the tough times we still have those days and I’m sure in 10 years we will still have days like that, what sets you apart is not what you do when things are going great and the seas are calm, but what you do to weather all the storms that come your way and stay standing through it all!!!
We are two strong women, and about our brand and story, its simple really. As two hard working mothers we want to show and prove to the world that no matter your circumstances, what has happened to you in your life or what you have had to overcome, nothing is impossible! All you need is hard work and dedication.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would take our guest on a fishing trip to Dixon lake, cookout and games included. Then maybe a few days in a cabin at Cuyamaca Lake. For a nice dinner on one of the nights, we would go to The Marine Room in La Jolla. On another day, a nice beach outing followed by a brunch at Escondido’s famous Sunny Side Kitchen.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to give credit to and recognize Martin T., My husband he is the reason behind our dreams of becoming a business owner and no longer relying on a paycheck to paycheck kind of life. He showed us the ins and outs and taught us how to run our business. Thanks to his help and dedication to us, our dream became a reality and we are doing what we love.
