We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Resendes Knox and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alicia, what makes you happy? Why?
Helping others nourishes my soul and truly makes me happy. This has been at the forefront of the reason behind me starting out my business. I truly value connecting with my clients and offering digital marketing solutions that enhance and growth their small business – it’s very rewarding!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At the height of the pandemic, I came to the realization that I wanted to do more for our community and help other entrepreneurs and small businesses grow. I decided to start my own business in digital marketing to cultivate the power of Meta ads for the betterment of San Diego’s small, local businesses in order to continue to provide their products and services. My background in design also allows me to utilize my creative side to create customized branding and graphics that really speak to the business’s overall message and aesthetic. With Markana Creative, you can expect the best of both worlds – the strategic paid advertising side and the creative branding side. Helping people is my love language and working with small businesses and non-profits continues to be incredibly rewarding!

Running your own business certainly has its challenges, but at the end of the day, as long as you’re aligned with your mission and values, you can see great success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
How fun! When I first moved to San Diego, one of the first things I did was a hike at Torrey Pines. Such stunning views and you can get a little beach time in there as well. Balboa park is definitely an ideal San Diego landmark that offers so much – tons of museums, park time, and of course the zoo. I like hanging out in North Park because of all the great restaurants (hello City Tacos!), shops, and bars. San Diego has so much to offer with communities that speak to everything you want!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shoutout all the wonderful women I’ve been able to connect with both in person and online via my digital marketing business and in particular, Anna Konchar for her insightful podcast and online entrepreneur based courses and the ladies at Bucketlist Bombshells for recognizing that there is more to life as an entrepreneur.
