We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriana Sandoval and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adriana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I didn’t want to get stuck in a niche. I was always told I need to do 1 thing and stick to that, so I had to figure out how to be “1 niche” but still be able to do just about everything creative wise. So I re-branded and my business is for Weddings & Milestones- whatever this may mean to someone we have got them covered. It was important for me that my business had a category to fit into but still be very versatile.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Most of my art is minimal and abstract. I think what makes me different is that I use many different mediums and materials in my art, I’m always incorporating different materials together. It hasn’t always been easy, I think something that hit me negatively was when a mural I worked so hard was just painted over. As an artist I was crushed, I think I was more hurt because I did it for free to get my work out and there and to have it painted over felt like my art didn’t matter. I had to remind myself that there are people who truly appreciate my art and that I just need to move on to what is next and not to let it hold me back. I want people to be able to have their vision truly come to life, and I want them to trust me to do so!
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
So if a friend is visiting- We will start the morning getting breakfast in North Park, walk around a bit (show them my floral installation that’s in a spa there) Then it’s Old Town for lunch and margaritas! And of course some local shopping while we are there. The beach before dinner just to relax and chill. As for dinner, Downtown at Bang Bang sushi! And of course more walking around. I think this sounds like a solid day!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My videographer and second shoot Lily- (she also runs an organization call Picture Party and she is amazing!) I love having her be apart of my team, she is talented and she makes my life much easier just by know that I can always count on her!
