We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsay, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I was obsessed with drumming at a very early age and knew I didn’t want to do anything else but that. Drums became my everything, and anything elseI tried to do or thought about doing never happened haha. Drums was the one and only thing I wanted to do. I also would think too… Why would I spend most of my hours during the week doing something I hated or didn’t like? Never made any sense to me. At the time to I wasn’t a firm believer in Plan B either because if you have a Plan B you’re already not putting in 110% into your Plan A. So I made a promise to myself I will do everything in my power to pursue my dream… and kept it!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Drummer and have been playing for 20 years! I started out in a small town in Upstate NY, moved to LA for music school. Went to USC for a year and dropped out… been hustling ever since! I got to where I am today from persistance, working my butt off, networking, social media, support from family and friends, and practice. It’s been a mix of things! Every little aspect of life has helped me where I am today. Was it easy? No!! Absolutely not… but I keep pushing and going. Never giving up! I turn my frustrations and channel into positivity fuel… which motivates me more to get to where I want to be and to keep going. Music is full of ups and downs you just have to learn how to enjoy the ride… through the good and bad! Most proud of… the impact I’ve had on peoples lives… especially when I hear I inspired someone to play the drums! The other thing is… I was born with a rare skin disease (Epidermolysis Bullosa) and the doctors told me at a very young age I wouldn’t be able to do much physically. So proving them wrong and overcoming my difficulties with my skin disorder has also been something I’m super proud of. Lessons I’ve learned… believe in yourself. never give up. obstacles, disappointments, why things didn’t work out… they all happened to teach you something, be kind, loyal and humble. and WORK YOUR BUTT OFF! I would like people to know me for my drumming / musical abilities, kindness, compassion, and love for living life to the fullest!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Huntington Beach… so I would take them to the ocean for sure. Next the local restaurants and bars (downtown area) I would love to catch a show at the Observatory. I would want to take them out on a duffy boat so they can see the marina / harbor area too! Or even paddle boarding. Keep it low key but what the locals / myself would do too especially for people who haven’t visited or seen things here before!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family, girlfriend, mentor Michael Miller, friends, and fans who have supported me every step of the way!! Wouldn’t be here without them!!!!!
