Meet Lindsey Willliams | San Diego Realtor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Willliams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsey, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Ever since I was a child, I was very independent- I always wanted to do what I wanted, when I wanted, and I didn’t “need” anyone giving me permission to do it. That mindset definitely stayed with me, and grew as I did. After graduating high school and beginning college at San Diego Miramar college, I had no idea what I wanted to do for a career, I hadn’t yet found anything that made me feel excited to wake up and go do it everyday- I probably changed my major about 3 times in my first two semesters, Biology to psychology, anthropology to sociology- yet nothing ever (for lack of a better word) “stuck”- sure they were very interesting topics, I loved learning about them and still to this day I am fascinated with those subjects, but as I said before they weren’t giving me that feeling of utter excitement in regards to turning it into a career. I had no idea what I wanted to do for a living, but I did know for this for certain, I knew that I wanted to be in charge of myself, I loved having control of my own schedule, being able to make my own decisions, and be spontaneous in a way.
I think that the idea of being the only one In charge of myself is what really drove me into starting my own business, and sure- in my field im working around, and with others- but at the end of the day I get to decide what I do, and when I do it, and I love it. I love that i’ve started something that give me the freedom to be myself, while continuing to learn and grow. .

What should our readers know about your business?
Im a realtor with Keller Williams Del Mar, I get to wake up every day and help my fellow San Diegans with one of the most sacred transactions in their life- and sure, some people might say I just help people buy and sell property, but it is SO much more than that, it is such an honor for me to be able to help people the way I do- seeing the absolute joy on someones face when they get to purchase their dream home that they have been in love with for their whole life, when someone marries the love of their life and they get to begin their search for their forever home where they will begin a family and create so many precious memories, just being able to help people in this way is such a special thing, and its one of the manny reasons that drove me to this career.
I would say what sets me apart from others is 3 things: Integrity, Determination, and Fearlessness.
Integrity comes into play so often in this career, and it absolutely matters who you are when no one is watching? what decisions you’ll make when you’re handling one of the biggest purchases someone is ever going to make in heir life? I pride myself on integrity- its the absolute foundation of my business, and it is extremely important for me to be honest with not only my clients, but everyone in my life- I treat everyone with respect, kindness, and integrity.
the second and third things are determination & fearlessness, to me the go hand in hand. I am EXTREMELY determined- and if I set a goal in my mind, i will do everything in my power to accomplish that goal, or continuing to try- that comes in play a lot in this business as-well, because you are in charge of your own business, you don’t have anyone peeking over your shoulder to check in on you, you don’t have anyone holding your hand and encouraging you to get your work done, or to come into the office in the morning- its all up to the individual, you absolutely have to have determination, and the drive to continue to push forward, to get up and work everyday, to stay motivated and focused. in this business, you either do or you don’t and the latter is not an option for me.
The fearlessness comes into play in a different aspect- real estate is a relationships business, you have to talk to people, often and you cant be fearful of talking to, meeting, or being in front of people! there is lots of networking that goes on in this field, especially with other realtors, and im always very determined to get over the “hump” of thoughts like “OMG theres so many people here, im nervous to go introduce myself” and just walk across the room and do it!
I wouldn’t necessarily say that it was hard nor easy to get where I am today, and im only at the beginning! one of my favorite quotes is from the man who actually founded Keller Williams, Gary Keller, he says “Success is simple- not easy” and I relate this quote a lot to my life as its very true, in order for me to get where I am today I was very intentional, and VERY consistent with my actions, and those are two of the things that got me to where I am today- consistency is the key to unlocking many, many doors in life.
Throughout this whole process of becoming a realtor, i’ve learned a lot about myself, my values, and how I want to live my life- but one of the most important things i’ve learned is having confidence, having confidence in my actions, my words, and how I carry myself. I have already grown so much, and gained so much knowledge since joining this industry, and im very excited to continue on that path.
Ione thing I want the world to know about me is that this is just the beginning for me, in my mind failure is not an option, and the only way to go from here is up. I want up everyday excited to see what the new day will bring me, who ill meet, what ill learn, where ill go the opportunities are endless with this beautiful thing we call life, and im very excited to see where it takes me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
oh my gosh I love this question! all throughout my highschool and college years my friends and I would go explore san Diego and find different things to do, so im very well versed on fun things to do!
day 1: Since I live in Cardiff/Encinitas- we would start there… we’ll start the day off by walking down to VG donuts, and a donut and maybe even some of their iconic banana bread, we would then walk over to the San Elijo ecological reserve, take a stroll through the beautiful greenery and see some of san Diegos gorgeous native plants and birds. After that since we’re already on the nature-y vibe, we’ll then head over to the san diego botanical gardens to continue fully immersing ourselves in the treasures that nature has to offer us. After this we will head down to the strip in Encinitas on the 101, where we will have al pastor tacos at The Taco Stand, and then hop across thee street to Death By Tequila for some happy hour margaritas. Post margaritas, we will then walk along that strip, and pop into the lovely shops that Encinitas has to offer- some of my favorites being Soulscape, Queen Eileens, Hart + Honey, and Coast Highway Trading! these shops always have the cutest things, and I could spend hours on hours in every single one of them!! after shopping and walking the strip we’ll head over to Cardiff state beach to sit in the sand, soak up the soothing sounds of thee ocean, and watch a beautiful san Diego sunset before ending the night by grabbing a slice of pizza from East Coast Pizza and heading home to watch Gilmore Girls on Netflix
Day 2: after all that walking around yesterday- we’ll probably want to do something more on the chill side, so we’ll spend the day shopping and exploring all that the Las Americas premiums outlet mall has to offer, before heading to imperial beach to grab dinner at Aroma Thai, and definitely stop at a coldstone somewhere before heading home!
Day 3: we’d start the morning at balboa park, grabbing a coffee form the. cafe in the park, before popping in and out of all the different museums, and then strolling around the park- our stroll would coincidentally end at the entrance to the San Diego zoo, where wed go spend the rest of our day “ooo-ing and ahh-ing” at the cute animals the zoo has to offer, and spending an extra long time at the wombat enclosure. Since we where already in the area, after the zoo we would head down to Kettner Exchange for dinner and drinks before heading home.
Day 4: Begin the day by hiking Iron Mountain in Poway, have a post hike breakfast at the original pancake house, go home to throw on our bathing suits and pack a picnic and spend the rest of the day lounging on moonlight beach until the sun sets
day 5 : Head down to la jolla! we’ll start out with breakfast at the cottage, before walking around down town la jolla, spending time in each of the art galleries, then we will go grab some gelato and walk down to the cove to hopefully see some sea lions being as adorable as ever! post sea lions, we will continue to stroll around in order to be spontaneous and let our noses guide us to a place to grab dinner at!
Day 6: Brunch at lavo, then hopping over to Coronado to walk on the beach, explore the village, and finally after sunset head over to the drive in theater for a relaxing movie night under the stars!
Day 7: as its the last day, I want to make sure we have a great time! but I want to be spontaneous… this day we’ll pick a random spot on a map of San Diego, go there and see what adventure awaits! there is something so exciting about spontaneity, and I love following the way the wind blows and seeing where I end up!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shout out my mother, Kristy. She raised my brother and I as a single mother and always did everything in her power to make sure my brother and I were happy, healthy, loved and supported. My mother is my absolute best friend and I will forever be grateful for the love and support she continues to provide me with- even if i’m doing something that she wouldn’t do, or doesn’t necessarily agree with, sure she might have some objections as any mother would but at the end of the day she still has my back.
I absolutely wouldn’t be where am today if it wasn’t for my mother, throughout growing up with her, and seeing the way she carries herself, she showed me what determination is, she showed me what strength is, she showed me to never settle for less than I deserved , and quite frankly she showed me how to be a badass!
