We had the good fortune of connecting with Hazel Grazelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hazel Grazelle, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
There are so many things that make me happy. It can be small things like my pets or the color of my car. However, the things that make me most happy are the things with endless knowledge and outcomes. I like business. I think it’s so cool that I could make any product I want come to life. Right now I am starting a company where I make shirts and skateboard decks. I also love fashion and the endless combinations you can make with different pieces. A good outfit makes me feel my best. Additionally, the ocean brings me so much joy. The life in it is beautiful and I enjoy swimming and surfing. Lastly, the pump track. I love the community and vibes there. I always have a blast for hours just going around the track.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am very creative and I take pride in it. With the new business I am starting, I am going to be creating some super sick art to put on skateboard decks. I am also going to be making shirts that I wish I had. There are challenges with starting anything. My first challenge is knowing where to start. Luckily I have been studying business and have already been a part of creating one. This makes it a lot easier for me. My current challenge is trying to get my decks made quickly so I can start selling them and advertising. However, I do want them to be very nice quality and I want to create the best art I can for them. I want my company to focus on originality and not caring what other people think. Those traits are a big part of my life so I would like for that to be present in my work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many cool spots I would take my friend. I think I would definitely take them to Marine Street Beach because the water is beautiful and fun to swim in. We would definitely also hit up Rudy’s Taco Shop and then The Baked Bear for some ice cream sandwiches. Next I’d take my friend to numerous surf and skate shops because that is a big part of the San Diego culture. After they purchase a skateboard, I’d take them to the pump track of course. When we are done skating, I could take them to one of the many secret spots I have for a nice view because that is my favorite way to end the day.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents deserve the most credit for my success. They support me in everything I do and they push me to achieve my best. They have taught me that if I want something I can work for it. They also taught me to not care what other people think. Those things are all very important. While starting a business, they aid me however they can. I wouldn’t be able to achieve what I do without their wisdom.
