Meet Annie Lim | Disney Blogger and Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Annie Lim and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Annie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I used to be afraid of taking risks, and would always stick to choices or situations that felt comfortable for me. However, to be honest, that gets boring! For me, taking risks is the best way to learn and it can be fun too. When I started The Unbirthday Party in 2018, it was mostly a photography account. I’d post photos from Disneyland… from food photos to park photos to merch photos. But aside from the holidays, Disneyland stays the same most of the year and there’s only so much a person who goes to Disney weekly can take pictures of. However, during the pandemic, we were all stuck at home, Disney was closed, and that’s when I decided to try Disneybounding. I posted my first Disneybound and I remember feeling nervous because I wasn’t used to posting pictures of myself. But it was so well received and I would never have known that had I not taken a risk and tried it out. Even today, I think my Disneybound photos get the most engagement and what’s even more amazing is the Disneybound community and friends that I’ve met along the way!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One thing that you may not know about me is that I shoot all my photos myself! I’ve practiced and perfected the self-timer mode as well as the art of propping my camera on Disneyland trashcans, hand sanitizers, signs, you name it! I’m pretty proud of the shots I’ve been able to get around the parks and how surprised people are when I tell them that I shoot photos of myself by myself! The biggest challenge in doing so is trying not to get people in the background, and with how busy the parks have been, it is not always easy. I think the key is finding the right spots and the right timing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My biggest tip for visiting the Disneyland would be to plan early and to try to make at least one reservation at a sit down restaurant. Blue Bayou is my favorite. On the day of the visit, I’d probably start off at Disneyland in the mornings, and depending on the wait times, I’d try to at least go on Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Railroad, and head into Galaxy’s Edge for Rise of the Resistance and lunch. Ronto and Rontoless wraps are so yummy and Docking Bay 7 always has yummy meals for the whole family. While eating, I’d try to sign up for the walk-up list at Oga’s Cantina for an after lunch drink. In the afternoon, I’d head into Fantasyland and do some of the dark rides, Alice, and It’s a Small World. Then, I’d head over to Tomorrowland for Astroblasters and Star Tours. I’d probably end the night at Disney by walking down Main Street, admiring the lights and shopping for merch.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One of my best friends, Jasmine, deserves so much recognition in my story! I met her through the Disney Instagram community, during the pandemic. She was sewing masks to donate to hospital workers, and encouraged others to join in. Since I also sew, I reached out to her and we have been close friends ever since. Nowadays, we often have virtual meetings to talk about weekly goals and to catch up about life. I am so thankful for her!
