We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Melnick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsay, is there something you believe many others might not?
One piece of conventional advice I absolutely disagree with is that you always have to be in a hustle mode or mentality. It doesn’t leave any room for divine inspiration. To say that you have to produce every single day as a creative doesn’t make any sense. With a creative brain you have to give yourself time to ground. Rest can do more than the hustle ever could sometimes. And to hustle and push a message that was forced doesn’t help anyone and can even make you feel bad about your results! Leave room for inspiration.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I do classify myself as an artist because I practice the art of divination. Having a teacher was really such an advantage for me. I wasn’t self taught. I had someone helping me develop my skill as well as passing down their knowledge. I was very fortunate to have that person teaching me that this art and this skill is very sacred and to be protected. Without that guidance at a young age, I don’t know what kind of reader I would’ve been. I read people in and out of metaphysical shops for the first leg of my career and then I gradually transitioned into having my own client list and practice. As that was happening simultaneously, I had a day that I spent at the river on Weeki wachee springs and I was meditating through the day. I was driving in my car on the way home all hot and sweaty after being in the sun all day and I just said to myself “I’m such a Florida witch” I immediately looked to see if the name was available online and I somehow snagged it. From then on I’ve been her. I feel blessed because building the brand aspect was never a struggle, it’ really is exactly who I am.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots in the city are pretty cliché I would say. Pass-a-grille has the best sand and the best vibes, that’s my beach. And secondly, the Dali museum. Those are my go-tos.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Bestfriend was first my mentor/teacher and without her I wouldn’t be anywhere near what I am today. It’s funny to shout her out because she prefers to be behind the scenes and more of a Diamond in the rough. Sarah dedicated so much of her time and efforts into teaching me everything I know about my practices. Without her there wouldn’t be Florida Witch.
