Meet Tyler Weyman | Freelance Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Weyman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
I think having a Plan B, or a fallback plan is the wrong way of thinking with anything. If you truly want to be successful you need to work like there is no backup plan and think like you have nothing to fallback on. If you put a hundred percent effort and passion into something the only way you can fail is if you give up.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my photography business this year and I’m so excited about the future. I have a background in motocross and mountain bike racing which is pretty different from all photographers considering I never knew I wanted to be a photographer until recently. It started out as a pandemic hobby that slowly grew into what it is now. Passions changed, and one door closed while another one opened. I’ve always had an eye for art and creativity but never put much thought into it. Photography has allowed me to nurture that side of me. Now that I shoot 35mm film I feel like I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing. Of course in the beginning people doubted what I was doing and questioned why I left racing but I never listened them and kept working on my craft. Photography has taught me patience and perseverance and my work ethic from athletics have helped me advance quickly. I learn something new every day and definitely don’t have everything figured out but I’m so excited because I know great things are in store for me!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I definitely spend a lot of time in Malibu so if I was gonna give anyone out of town a tour of a place it would be there! There’s so many quiet beaches as well a scenic ones too. You can’t visit Malibu and not enjoy the beach! Northern Malibu is very relaxed by Point Dume, and if you go farther north Neptunes Net is a must visit at least once. Of course Country Mart is amazing with great shopping, coffee and food, and can’t my favorite place to eat, Ollo. Calamigos Ranch is a great hidden gem up in the hills and viewing the sunset from atop Piuma is a must. Malibu is a small town that gets crazy on the weekends but during the week it is a great place to unwind!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Hayley Richardson is the person that recommended me for this shoutout and she is an absolute angel of a person and a joy to work with. She is so down-to-earth and enjoyable to be around and extremely talented at what she does!
