Meet Francoise Fregoso | Dj | Small Business owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Francoise Fregoso and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Francoise, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I feel like over time with my office life, owning my small business and Djing has been a life changing experience. I do feel proud of myself to be able to do all three but this was not easy at first. I would see myself burning myself out but I had to understand to take a day off and give myself breaks to enjoy my small wins. That really helped me balance all three with getting so burnt out.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my business out of nowhere this wasn’t suppose to be what it is today. My sister in law had this chamoy dip and for some reason I didn’t like the taste and I knew I could come up with something better. Once I made my first batch it just launched this huge business idea and I just ran with it. I’ve always wanted to bring happiness to people and I feel with my product it truly did. I was having people from all over the U.S. sending me messages telling me how much they loved my product and how much joy it brought them. This is when I knew I had something special, so I continued to make this a brand with a meaning behind it. I wanted people to know this chamoy and chamoy candy came from love and giving a sense of your childhood. There were times I would get negative feedback or thinking no one would buy this product but something inside of me told me not to give up I basically turned that into fuel This takes a lot of work and mistakes happened but it did help me learn what to do better in areas I needed to work on.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since becoming a dj and small business I have really been able to explore all parts of my city. I would definitely take them to Boyle heights where they got the best tacos and then take them to the local bars like XELAS which have amazing drinks. I would take them to DTLA of course to get some hotdogs with bacon and shop local for some clothes. Since I’m a huge coffee lover we head to couple local spots to get fresh brewed coffee and I’m not talking about Starbucks either I’m talking about holy grounds in El Sereno or Milpa grille in Boyle heights.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When I started this journey to start my small business and becoming a dj I had a huge support system which included my friends and family. Everyone had a huge part helping me and pushing me to keep going when I wanted to give up on myself. I didn’t have a mother or father present in life so it did get lonely at times but my best friends and some family members were there to step to the plate and fulfill that part in my life.
