Meet Miss Loverling | Artist and Store Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Miss Loverling and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Miss Loverling, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
If I could choose a sentence that push me to be daring was “If not now, when?”.
I always have been a strange one, and have love the beauty of the dark side, therefore having a oddity shop had always been a dream of mine.
A dream that I hadn’t dare to take seriously until 3 years ago.
Fortunately, I am lucky enough to have a close friend who cares about the shop as much and as equal as I, and know that I can always talk to them when I feel lost in regards to the directions of my petit shop.
It’s important and necessary to have people who you feel support and love, for daring becomes much more secure (mentally).
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I frankly don’t think my art sets me apart from others, I like to believe that it connects me with my coven, that I get to share my style and trinkets with people like me who appreciates them and see the beauty on them. I am not special nor unique, I am one of.
And one of, is the most warming and calming fact that I could have.
One of a group of people, who just like me feel a little on the outside of the normal, and that one of, makes us remember that we aren’t alone.
However proud of some of my creations I sure am.
My 2 headed teddy bears have been the soul of Miss Loverling, my three eyes teddy bears the origin of it, my lover’s eyes necklaces represent my love for history and romance, my mystery books the curiosity of an adventurer and imaginative soul, and my jars of oddities are just the most fun I get while making merchandise for the shop.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am absolutely in love with Barrio Logan. I understand that I am bias, for I live there, and my shop is located there as well, however, Logan is our little magic town of Art; there is art absolutely everywhere you look, from the trash cans, to the buildings, all the way to the alleys.
There is music coming from different places, people saying hi to everyone while walking their puppies, and just love all around it.
There is magic in Logan.
But I do get out of my little town some days 🙂
And I must say that you will most likely find me taking everyone who comes to visit me to my favorite bar of all San Diego “Craft and Commerce”, to my favorite italian food “Ciccia”, to grab a floral ice cream at “Salt and Straw”, and to top of a 2ish hour drive to my ultimate most favorite, steampunky looking place that I have ever witness “Bombay beach” fun fact you will most likely see me on the floor of the beach collecting bones for Miss Loverling’s merch (your girl taking advantage of the opportunities while keeping it local)
But we always start with Barrio Logan.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I believe that my petit shop, would literally not be open if it wasn’t for all the lovely people who have chosen to support my dreams by shopping at the shop, by following the Instagram, and truthfully maintaining the pattern of their visits. The patience, love, and compassion that each one of them has gifted me, one way or another, has been my weekly reminder to keep pushing and dreaming; that I am on my right path.
So I thanked each and everyone of them, I am beyond grateful and humble by the love of my people.
The strange and unusual seem to be some of the kindness and hilarious entities I have encountered, and for that I feel proud to be part of them.🖤
