Meet Tammy Ramsay | Precision Nutrition Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tammy Ramsay and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tammy, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
I love the old adage, “THE DOSE MAKES THE POISON” because it reminds me that balance is one of the most important aspects of life. Too much (or too little) of a good thing can cause harm.
My brain often tells me, if a little is good…then more is better, which is not true! So, aiming for the sweet spot is an important daily practice for me.
That’s why I love GENETIC and EPIGENETIC testing, which helps to uncover and address the sweet spot for our own bodies, instead of guessing. Taking generic health advice can be harmful without understanding our own genetic makeup and how our lifestyle is impacting the way our genes are working.

What should our readers know about your business?
After my family and I experienced the benefits of PRECISION NUTRITION through GENETIC and EPIGENETIC testing, I founded LAGRIMA HEALS NUTRIGENOMICS to help others create better physical & mental health by discovering their own predispositions, specific nutritional needs and environmental burden. Through testing, we can learn to work WITH our genes, instead of against them.
We use the latest technology in Precision Health with a Functional Medicine approach to assesses specific deficiencies which can underpin mood, sleep, weight and may even lead to disease over time if not addressed. Testing can also detect chemicals and specific food additives that can be traced back to our diet and environment.
After doing an internship for my Bachelor’s of Science degree at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, I worked as a Pathology Assistant in Mission Hospital’s Pathology Laboratory where I processed bodily specimens- everything from breast biopsies to livers destroyed by chronic alcohol use. This left me overwhelmed by the level of cancer and other disease in my community. I realized that the conventional healthcare system is great at diagnosing and prescribing, but there is a need for the creation of wellness rather than just the treatment of disease.
It’s been challenging to work against the Standard American Diet (SAD) in a country that allows our conventional food to be sprayed with chemicals that are banned in many other countries for being linked to cancer, and also uses chemical food additives that are known to cause serious health issues. Seeing some of these chemicals show up on my hair scan motivated me to double down on organic, high quality whole foods and I feel so much better!
It took me a while to fully embrace a healthy lifestyle myself, so I have compassion for the journey of others. I want the world to know that we are not the victims of our genes like we were once told, and small steps can make a big difference!
I believe that the way to improve our food system is through REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE, which is why my family and I created the passion project – Lagrima Global Learning Academy – where we spread awareness through impactful environmental projects with kids in the community.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my friends come to visit, we usually start by exploring the little nooks and crannies in Laguna Beach. I love the ocean, nature and the healthy hippie vibe there. We often pack a picnic and check out some of the great destinations along the coast. From Crystal Cove down to San Clemente…there are so many beautiful and relaxing spots in SoCal! I love rollerblading, so the Capo Beach area has lots of pavement along the ocean that’s great for blading. The trip isn’t complete unless it involves the San Clemente Pier, Del Mar street shopping and the search for live music!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One of my biggest inspirations is the MAXLOVE PROJECT, an organization founded by Audra & Justin Wilford, that uses evidence-based INTEGRATIVE healthcare with a focus on CULINARY MEDICINE to help families touched by pediatric cancer THRIVE, not just survive. My family gets to participate in their monthly Fierce Foods Academy at the Farm + Food Lab, which are hands-on cooking classes from Chef Andrew Johnson and Registered Dietician Alexia Hall, who use their extensive knowledge and talent to teach us how to use FOOD AS MEDICINE. Integrative Nurse, Veronica DeRosa, has a natural calming vibe and leads mindful eating exercises at the farm to connect the mind, body & soul.
A highlight of my career is being a part of MaxLove’s Ohana Project, incorporating Nutrigenomic testing for children with cancer, both in treatment and survivorship. Since childhood cancer has risen by 27% my desire to improve the food system by promoting regenerative agriculture feels more important now than ever!
I also work closely with Dr. Fatima Manesh, a talented Acupuncturist, Herbalist and Doctor of Chinese Medicine located in Newport Beach, who has exposed me to the power of Eastern Medicine. Dr. Manesh uses a root-cause approach, that includes Nutrigenomics, to help her patients heal.
