Meet Denise Torres | Fashion Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Denise Torres and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Denise, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
My habit to constantly create every morning I wake up I just want to make something. A new design with making a custom hat or piece of jewelry.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My fashion journey began during the transitional times of the pandemic. Losing my boutique catering company put me in a weird place I knew I had the drive to start something new.
But what?
I started by creating a new type of jewelry you could wear on your face. Called face chains, with ornaments, feathers, tassels and more. I had the idea by thinking of my own troubles of not being able to wear any of them myself being a girl with stretched ears.
That soon became a festival fashion statement piece in san diego where I lived at the time.
I attended desert events where me and friends would wear them. Face chains make anyone who wears them immediately feel sexier. Man or woman. Yes they are unisex!
I then began custom designing my own hats and was inspired by other hat designers. Till today I am still inspired by so many different types of hats like fedoras, borelos and military hats. I plan to keep my ideas flowing with all kinds of creative concepts. I now consider myself an artist, a creator, a designer and entrepreneur.
I have grown in so many ways with learning so much about different types of metals, precious stones, wild birds feathers, vegan and leather hats and more.
With only a buisness background and no real fashion experience I have now become one of Miami’s female fashion designers. Having my designs now in four stores.
My designs have now appeared in four Fashion Shows. Two shows in Miami and two shows in Fortlauterdale. I’m not stopping there!
I intend to put even more hard work and creativity into all my custom designs. I do believe that collaboration helps us to grow and with that we can achieve our dreams quicker then by ourselves.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Moving to Miami about a year and a half ago I say I live in the most exciting and spontaneous city in America! We have so much Latino and Caribbean culture here.
I love the atmosphere whether I’m in South Beach, North Beach, Brickell or Wynwood.
If my best friend were to visit I’d take her to South Beach for tanning, shopping and Joe’s Juice for a Blue Smoothie (healthy and yummy). For night time dancing and good food Wynwood is the place to be.
One of my favorite places is Do Not Sit On the Furniture. The music is typically melodic house (very flowy) the vibes are always so much fun here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I turned into a custom hat creator by watching so many hat inspo videos online. From all the different techniques I created a style of my own.
