Meet Donna Wojcik | Reiki Master Teacher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Donna Wojcik and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Donna, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Before I became a Reiki Master, I was in a place in my life where I knew I needed healing and guidance but wasn’t sure how to approach it at that time. I’ve done talk therapy before which brought it’s own kind of clarity and healing but I knew I needed more. As I was exploring my options, I decided to see an energy healer and felt that I received what I needed. I knew I was diving into the healing I was waiting for, not just for my mind, but for my body and spirit. I began to learn more about energy healing and decided to train in Reiki.
Through my own Reiki healing practice, I am holding space for those seeking the same thing and more. At times it feels like therapy and other times clients receive the clarity they need. All sessions ends with the client feeling at peace, relaxed, and/or with an understanding of what the next step is to continue on his/her healing journey. My role in my business is to create a healing space for others who are seeking an alternative yet natural form of healing.
In terms of helping the community, I have plans for expanding my business in the near future to bring in a community of healers, wellness practitioners, and wellness coaches. There are many wellness spas and healing arts centers that primarily focus on massage therapy and/or naturopathic services. There are few “healing centers” that focus on energy work, spiritual work, and other alternative healing modalities but many people seeking this type of work. Kindred Healing Space will provide one location for clientele to experience various offerings that many other locations may not offer in one place. I also find the importance of bringing awareness to this form of health and healing, especially to those who are in the same place I was not too long ago, unsure of what I was seeking but able to find it where I least expected it.

What should our readers know about your business?
I own a healing practice where I provide Reiki healing, card readings, and spiritual guidance. I hold space for those who aren’t sure what type of healing they are seeking and help provide clarity and guidance as needed.
When I first became certified as a Reiki healer, I provided free healing sessions to friends and family. Through that process, I knew I wanted to help others in this way and that was the beginning of my healing practice.
I was a 3rd grade teacher when I started my business and continued to teach for a year. This made my availability very limited. I was only able to provide services in the evening and on weekends. You can imagine what I may have felt after a day of teaching but I knew that my healing work was important and wouldn’t have it any other way. I recently made the difficult decision to resign from teaching to focus full time on my practice. I knew I was taking a risk, giving up a steady income that helped support my family of 4 into this unknown world of owning and running my own business. My husband and I decided that we would make it work.
Since resigning, my business has grown and more people are able to come see me now that my availability has opened up. I believe that I went from one meaningful and rewarding calling to another and that alone brings me peace.
In addition to my healing practice, I also make Reiki Infused Intention candles that I sell online, at events, and out of my office.
I am looking forward to the expansion of my practice, which is now called Kindred Healing Space that will house a community of healers, wellness practitioners and coaches as well as include yoga, meditation, sound baths, etc. It will bring awareness to alternative forms of healing and assist others in finding balance in their mind, body, and spirit.
I come down to San Diego throughout the year to provide In Person sessions. I’m from San Diego but now live in Seattle, WA but still come down often.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First things first, I would definitely take anyone visiting San Diego to the beach. It’s free, relaxing, and fun! My favorite beach is Fletcher’s Cove in Solana Beach. I take my kids and their friends there all the time. We also always find our way to Balboa Park and Old Town whenever we get a chance. The architecture and energy is beautiful there and a great place to feel into the history of San Diego. A trip to San Diego is never complete without trying the Mexican food. Really, you can go to any Mexican food stand or mom and pop restaurant and it’ll be delicious. I suggest Rolled Tacos or Carne Asada chips or fries.

Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc. that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
My husband has been my rock throughout this entire process. Prior to becoming certified as a Reiki Master, I was going through what some may call a Spiritual Awakening. I thought I was going crazy and couldn’t understand experiences I was going through. Something he said really shifted my thinking and is the reason I have my own business today. He said, “Maybe what you’re experiencing is not a curse but a gift.” He has been nothing but supportive when I started my healing practice. He talks about my work with others and I’ve received referrals through him. I don’t think I would have felt as confident as I do now if it weren’t for him.
