We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaoru Mansour and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaoru, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Born in Japan, came to Los Angeles at the age of 30. I think the main reason I am now is that my parents taught me “motivation and elf-esteem”

The second thing is that educational background doesn’t matter in US society to be a freelance artist.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I want to make pieces that makes people smile. I think I’m lucky to find my job that I never get tired of even if I think about it 24 hours a day.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Probably most days we go to museums and galleries, also Disney Hall for music. Probably we will eat at Little Tokyo, Chinatown, Koreantown, and Pasadena area.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Mostly, my family, Friends, and all the people who are creative.
