We had the good fortune of connecting with KaeVibes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KaeVibes, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?

I decided to pursue a creative career because I absolutely love music and the freedom one can take when creating it. Growing up I bit my tongue a lot because I didn’t want to get in trouble or be viewed a certain way but I don’t have to worry about that with songwriting. Expressing myself freely is therapeutic and I get to be as imaginative as I want.

I also believe in the power music of music. It can be extremely influential and healing. I can remember several times that I was going through something and listening to music helped me cope with that situation. I want to be able to help my listeners in the same way. Music is more than having perfect cut-offs and tracks lined perfectly. It is full of flaws and raw emotions. I make music for people who want to feel and aren’t afraid to express those feelings.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

Life is more than love and materials. I prefer talking about concepts that aren’t normally mentioned in music and if they are, I try to give a different perspective. That’s what makes my music different. It’s very personal and raw.

I’m most excited about my growth and being confident in my gifts. I look forward to headlining my own shows and making a positive impact in the lives of my listeners.

I got to where I currently am through lots of encouragement and disappointment. It seems like for every few people who were rooting for me there were 20 more hoping that I’d fail and they found ways to get to me mentally. Rebuilding my self-confidence has been an uphill battle but with lots of self-love and the support of my close friends and band mates, I am getting stronger every day. Being a creative isn’t easy at all. Sometimes the lyrics and melodies just come to you and others you have writer’s block and scrutinize over every word. Outside influences constantly telling you how to be doesn’t help either but I’ve learned to tune out those outside voices for the most part and minimize the negative self-talk. I want the world to know that my voice will be heard, no matter what. I will make my listeners FEEL again.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

I’d take my friend to La Cantera, The Rim, The Pearl and to local restaurants like Full Belly and Wayne’s Wings. Places like the Japanese Tea Gardens are extremely peaceful and serene so I’d make sure we’d make some time to come down from all of the excitement. We’d also visit places like Essex Modern City and find random murals around town since we both like art. Jefferson Bodega is a must also because of all the unique snacks.

My friend would meet my band mates who I consider family. They understand me in ways that no one else does. They’re lots of fun and welcoming, so I know my friend would have a good a time and most importantly, she’d feel safe and included.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout some of my oldest friends, Micayla and Nimra, for being my biggest fans and for learning my lyrics so fast.
